More akin to Brotherhood of Man than a Band of Brothers maybe, there were some brave souls up at Curborough sprint circuit earlier today strutting their stuff and finding a common bond through a shared adversary, namely a stopwatch.
The event itself was being hosted by the Morgan Three Wheeler Beards Association, or at least it appeared that way. The sun was out & roasting anyone it touched, and the smell of hot oil wafted on the light breeze like some ancient aphrodisiac.
I hadn't been back to Curborough for about twenty years or so, and I was really pleased to discover not a lot had changed. The entrance is still unmarked, with no flourescent jacketed open hand at the gate, and you can park pretty well where you like. There are a bare minimum of officials present, and you have a great view of that ribbon of tarmac from just about anywhere you can stand or sit.
The place epitomises the ethos of grass roots motor sport, and long may it continue.
The day was shared with the classic motorcycle guys and girls, which was ideal for those who, like me, are also passionate motorcyclists. Having watched some of their exploits on track, they are clearly a lot braver too!
I'd gone along to support Team Talk Morgan three wheeler drivers thinking they may be a little thin on the ground, whereas in fact there were quite a few present & it was great to meet you all.
Have a look through some of the photo's for a flavour of the day for those who weren't there, and to kick start the story telling & heroic tales..
A cracking day out!
