My 2010 4/4 sport - peeled within a couple of weeks - they have been replaced at least 4 times at services etc. all peeled within a couple of weks. Now have replaced the blue plastic in the badges with body coloured paint(using a coctail stick to blob the paint in) this has lasted over a year now and looks great.
Agree that MMC should not have accepted such shoddy goods - but hopefully the new regime will get a new supplier when current stock runs out.

If I had to make a list of the 5,000 things I have to do, painting the badge on the Moglet would be 5,001!

A warranty claim sounds better.

It is a minor thing but a significant indicator that within the factory there are people who just don't care, and have no pride.

RoadsterIV peeled front and back replacements OK to date - if they peel again I will remove blue fill - just pour hot water over badge and flick out the softened fill with a needle.

Interesting sample: it seems that the majority don't peel, but when they do start it is a gradual process to full peeling.

My take is that the cleaning process, needed to ensure the paint sticks to the chrome, isn't done in a reliable way.

I was talking to one of SWMBO's friends who makes jewelry. She suggested that as the badge is chromed brass the best way would be to remove all the paint and replace with coloured glass enamel. The traditional way is to use glass, it goes on as a powder and when heated to 350C the dlass melts and fuses into a solid mass with a deep colour. The enameling powder is cheap, the main cost is a small oven.

But now there is cold enamelling, I suspect some sort of polymer material: she sent me this link:

Cold Enamel

I may be tempted to try it.
