We've seen JBR around Dartmouth and he always looks miserable.
How did he look after your interaction?

I was surprised to recognise him at the wheel of a new alrad as previously he has owned a sequence of hairdressers cars you know the 5 ring circus TT and always in Swarz. One look from his replacement partner and things were clearly under firm control. She is a stunner and etwas 6'2" natural blonde and an absolute charmer. He was the gentleman when asked if I might borrow his mob he offered to and did phone my wife, and he offered to run me home as well. I rejected the offer only because traffic needed shepherding around the single track bent obstruction ! He had to shoot off as he was due at the London Village chippy that he runs / owns that evening. He also called and left a message asking as to my wellbeing on our L/L phone whilst Heather (popped out to pick me up in her GTI more -loody Vorsprung) and I were clearing Henry of extraneous bits that one needs to carry in Morgans. The roof also had to go up on Henry as the drizzle now begins, this is a bit of a shock for him. Within 10 mins the hydraulic flat bed recovery has arrived and I back it onboard with difficulty as the front offside wheel/ suspension and chassis twisting has relocated the offside wheel about 3" rearward with subsequent fouling on just about everything. p.s. This is the car currently being advertised by a joker up north as "driveable and an easy easy fix and that the panels will beat out ". £18,900 is the asking price...

My dad died suddenly a year ago aged 66 (it would have been his 67th birthday today). Monty - I don't want to get too maudlin about this, but same happened to me. The old man went suddenly at 69 (and his father at 58!) so here I am at just turning 67 thinking "bloody hell, let's get on with life...!" But to go back to the start of this thread - have no unreasonable fears; these are robust cars and are meant to be driven. They have their quirks, but don't be intimidated by problems you may read on this forum. These are admittedly real issues reported by colleagues who need help, advice or reassurance but, of course, those who have little trouble with their cars don't report it. So far, I am one of those. Steve, based on the family history you should be good for 81...11 years up on your Dad and 22 years up on your Grandad.

What's wrong with driving in the snow? The 4/4 is brilliant with narrow tyres and smooth power delivery. I hadn't planned to drive it on one of the worst days of the year a few years ago but had booked some work in at a well known Morgan dealer and a day off work so felt honour bound to keep the appointment. Driving past cars and vans off road in ditches as I sailed past was very informative but what was humbling was around Milton Keynes as I was cosy with my easy up hood and heater working nicely when coming in the opposite direction hood down and only flying helmet for protection was another Morgan. No idea who he was but my feeling of bravado and superiority evaporated instantly, although the wave of acknowledgement helped a little.

I had a 4/4 Sport and had a little altercation with John B R a celebrity chef who lives v close to me when he is not running his chip shop in London Village. Short story long 5' grass verges in a Devon Bank single track lane has only one result. He was in a 5 ring alrad and the Vorsprung certainly beat the crap out of the Ali Sport and it twisted the chassis and destroyed the front suspension. Cheers.
Sounds like somebody overcooked it......

I take this ad for timber outbuildings from C&SC to mean that the Classic Morgan is suitable as a "daily run around or classic car"....or BOTH.

Hugely reassuring Andrew : I was basing my fear on the AWFUL performance of my former XK8 in the snow around the Mendips. Two truly heart-in-mouth experiences in 2010 means I have always taken "snow leave" after very heavy falls of snow since then (3). Now that I am in Ross, 46 miles from work, the knowledge that I might be able to get to work (and more importantly BACK from work !) when the white stuff is around is very useful. Hood UP and heater ON though. I'm not hard like those MK northerners. Jeremy
