My doors squeak when motoring along through the country side
It seems to be coming from the catch area, rubber to metal, very annoying
Has any body had this problem, and how did you eliminate (did you change the rubbers on the catch, if so where did you buy them from)
Thanks chris

Chris, you don't say if you run with the side screens on or off. If it's with the screens on, it may be the lower rear padded part of the side screen rubbing on the rear three quarter bodywork panel behind the door. Mine does this. I use polish, the type that doesn't leave any white traces, on both the body panel and the black plastic of the side screen. If this works you may find it needs to be done at regular intervals, but it's worth it for the peace and quite!
Philip.

Hi Chris My 96 +8's doors used to squeak, I tried several things to stop it but no success, then I noticed that NeilM's Roadster had a small rubber seal that runs around the inside edge of the doors where it shuts against the body, my car did not. I am not sure when the factory started fitting them as standard, maybe your car does not have them? I purchased these from a main dealer, they were only about £4. They were easy to fit with a sticky backing and the squeaking stopped. Also stops the bottom door edge rubbing the paint. Hope this helps.

Have you tried with the side screens off? It is they that will be making all the noise, even if fully tightened up.

The side screen fixing screws mounting plates may be loose to the door.
See if the 3 screws on each need a small tweak.

It might be the door hinge pins. My door pins are definitely worn. You can check by lifting the rear end of the door if you can feel movement then the pins are worn. Previously I took the pins out and rotated them 180 degrees which cured the problem for a while but its come back. I think the answer for me lies in new hinge pins.
