My feeling is that they will do very little, they longer they drag their feet, the fewer of our early cars are out of warrenty, so costing them less. Until someone (with money and a lot of it) takes legal action they will, I think they will do nothing. Customer loyalty is one thing, MMC's bank balance is quite another. This could hit them very hard. I am sorry for being cynical, but I have worked for a small motor manufacturer and know how the management worked.

I think MMC should be prepared to take the consequences (financial or otherwise) for selling an under developed car to unsuspecting customers who bought it in good faith. Any money it costs them further down the line (as a result of extending the warranty) is only money they should have spent in completing the development programme before launch.

Red3W & KBMOG I agree with your sentiments. I have no intention of selling but future expense to sort inherent problems is a worry when warranty ends. The money they did not spend on the developing it properly would fund to a warranty extension.

For my part, i would be interested to know what the policy of the company would be in case a chassis breaks outside the warranty period. We know that 2013 and 2014 chassis have been modified for a good reason and there is no way owners of earlier cars can upgrade theirs. Notwithstanding risk of injury in case of failure with the producer aware of defects on the early models.

If MMC are reluctant to extend the warranty, they are, by this very act, admitting that they themselves know (and admit) the cars are un-reliable.

I think extending the warranty would help us all, restoring confidence and help residual values.
If Morgan Motor Company were able to give us an extended warranty say for 24 months or even 12 months, just covering the engine, drive train and chassis, I would be happy and sleep better at night. Hopefully by the time this extended warranty runs out, there will be solutions in place for the problems some of us have experienced.
I didn't buy my car to sell and at the moment I am having great fun with it, so not too concerned about values of the car, but I do worry about facing a major bill to repair my car out of warranty. I might then be forced to sell my car. I have had the compensator and bevel box replaced in March of this year along with the upgrades. I have a few minor issues at the moment, nothing major. You would get this with any car. I am just under 3,000 miles.
The above is my view based on my experience of the car, I know others have had a different experience and will have a different view. I think we all have one thing in common, we all wanted a car from the motor industry that is totally different than some of the massed produced boring cars on offer today. The M3W is certainly different! You just have to drive down the road to be reminded of that! ...or follow behind in a 4 wheel Mog to realise that it's like wearing an invisibility cloak when there's an M3W with you....

Well have had my 3W back since yesterday. I was right at the end of the warranty and suffered a cracked chassis. Morgan did take this very seriously and have replaced complete with new shocks. Bevel box changed also. I bought the 3W as a private buy when one year old and so far have got through three compensators, one bevel box, one rear wheel, belt and pulley, one cam belt, two silencers and a rectifier. Local dealer has been great and all of course have been replaced under warranty. This must have cost more than a small fortune and I am sure my experience has been similar to many others on here. The biggest problem for me has not been Morgans response so much as the loss of road time. This isn't the first automotive product with lots of problems and I'm sure it won't be the last. Considering the large variance in usage of the 3W I am sure that Morgans best bet must be a extended warranty at some sensible cost to the user. A ten year free warranty is a ludicrous suggestion and is just not realistic. I really hope Morgan and we long suffering but patient owners can achieve a long term sollution. I'm not for selling and two days back in the beast has reinforced my view that it is a flawed but equally brilliant piece of kit.

Hi Matty, glad you've got your car back. Out of interest how many miles have you done? Also with the bevel box replacement, do you know if it is different or improved to the one they removed?

Good and interesting posts Matty and in your short ownership period you've pretty we'll experienced it all!
I don't think we are going to get much out of Steve Morris by just winging here, apart from getting things off our chest, what we need to do is to officially ask for a cohesive and doable course of action for all pre 2014 cars, and I think some extra warranty time has to be right up there.
As Matty says, 10 years is out of the question, but would an extra year, plus further extended warranty at a cost, be of interest? I might suggest that something like £100 pa up to, say, 5 years old and maybe 20,000 miles, then £250 pa after that up to 75,000 miles.
I'm not sure they would even consider moving on their policy of charging for a replacement Centa comp. as I suspect they would point out that the price of new cars has risen by £1000 or so, and this could be due to the extra costs of the upgraded gear, including the comp. which is probably being done at cost anyway.
I feel that a solution has to be acceptable to both the company and the owners?
Once we have decided on a reasonable compromise, we can write an open letter to Steve, who I know is quite a reasonable and fair man, within the constraints of having to run a profitable business, with shareholders who will want an explanation and may not be quite so understanding.
He will, of course already know of our proposals, as this is an open forum, but he will need to be approached directly about things.
