" During the period between November 2012 until 9th September 2013 an additive was combined to the bevel box oil on all M3W’s. This additive over a period of time has been found to bond with the oil and forms clumps within the box, this can result in the gears not getting sufficient lubricant when required. It is essential that vehicles produced between these two dates have the bevel box oil changed, we recommend turning the rear wheel while filling with oil to flush any debris through the system (obviously as we recommend this is done at first service 1000 miles or 3 months whichever is first, all affected vehicles should now have passed through there dealer and the oil changed). "

Very interesting...in the absence of any specific information about the additive at fault, does anyone still feel like recommending adding anything to the bevel box oil?

wow indeed. would of been nice to hear from my dealer about this, sadly but not surprisingly this went completely quiet... good news is my 2014 in theory won't have this issue...right?

When mine (built in November/December 2012) got its first service at two weeks old, Revolutions (or RPM as they were then) changed the bevel box oil. When I expressed mild surprise at this as I thought this would be an infrequent event they said that they had been told by the factory that it was a good idea to change it at all services.

Could be a reason for low mileage boxes failing perhaps. Churn the oil and the additive up together then leave it to sit and coagulate.

my bevel box model 2013 was replaced in 2014 because it was leaking from the input shaft seal, since I had two drains 75/140 GL5 since replacing the months of May and soon to redo provides a drain and the engine for the fifth time with almost 18.000 km.

In view of atalnte83's post about bevel gearbox oil additives causing "clumps" of the oil I thought I had better check my BB oil. I replaced it about 600 miles ago with Morris XFS 80W/140 and added about 15ml of Liqui Moly MoS4, something that I had done as standard with a Moto Guzzi box I had once, as they specify. Not sure what Morgan used in the box but Liqui Moly doesn't seem to cause any "clumps". It all flowed well and seems fairly quiet, well as quiet as it usually is.
