I found the Roadster is not exactly the easiest car to drive, but I’m sure that this will change as I get used to it.

I am fairly used to driving a performance car, as the car that it is replacing is a TVR Griffith 500, having a 5 litre Rover V8, and with published performance figures of:

0-60 in 4.2secs, top speed 161mph, 340bhp at 5500rpm, 350lbs/ft torque at 4000rpm.

For comparison, the Roadster performance figures are:

0-60 in 4.9secs, top speed 134mph, 203bhp at 6150rpm, 206lbs/ft torque at 4900rpm.

I find that I miss not having power steering and power disc brakes all round, but again, that is just a matter of getting used to a different driving style.

However, having said all that, the car is truly amazing. There is ample power, and the driving experience is tremendous. I am trying to keep the revs under 4000rpm for the first few months so that I don’t overstress anything, which means that I can’t experience its full power as this will be at around 6000rpm.

The view down the long bonnet is stunning, and I don’t think I will ever tire of it.

I think that it is the best purchase that I have made.

Yes, I adjusted that a few minutes after the photo was taken to have it sloping right back, otherwise your head is above the windscreen! Also, I prefer a straighter arm position.

If you decide you need power-steering, Richard Thorne is offering electric power-steering engineered by the race team @ £2,000/2,100 + VAT fitted and they say on the website that: "Our development power steering Roadster V6 will be available for test drives in the near future. If you would like a demonstration or to discuss the fitment to your own car please contact Richard." HTH

Roger, you said the colour is a Rover one but it looks very similar to Jaguars Garnet. Does anyone know if all the 'British' car companies share a similar garnet red? It really is a stunning colour.

They were one of the extras that I paid for. They cost £235, which I thought was quite a lot!! - but they look fantastic and I'm glad I ordered them.

Oh yes, they really do. I'm sure, that I would have spent that money on them too. But when I ordered mine, they were not in the options list.
