I wouldn't ban them but I'd make anyone who steps onto or uses the road in any way required to have third party insurance and pay a road occupancy tax.

Might help fund proper footpaths and cycle tracks.

My, very much missed, old horse (when he was a 4 year old) had his own solution when, on one occasion, a Honda 50 or similar commuter bike invaded what he regarded as his space. Before I could stop him, he spun 90 degrees and let go with both back legs. To my great relief, he missed the biker - it could have caused a very serious accident. He became immune to traffic as we continued to school him and regularly take him on a bus route with regular doses of articulated lorries.

Sadly, no test results are required before people buy a horse. We carry full third party liability and vets insurance - many don't.

I stand by my comment that our inability to understand real risk is crippling our country. Try just doing your job. No one has ever fallen down the stairs at my place of work yet you will now be reported by your own colleagues for not holding the hand rail at all times.
I also stand by the comment about riding to the conditions of the road and not what the sign says. I think you are safer driving five to ten mph over and concentrating on what your doing than half asleep on the limit.

I should also add that I have been riding motorcycles for over 35 years and getting held up by a bike is just not on

What irritates me most is drivers who cruise the 60 limit at 45, for mile after mile when it's impossible to pass. Especially bad on the Fosse Way!

Bikers know how to deal with drivers like that.
Mind you the Roadster can make a fair fist of the bike style "Cake Slice" overtake.

"Cake Slice Overtake?" I hear you all ask. It goes like this

1. Pull up a car's length behind the target moving at the same speed but in a gear that gives you the best "go".
2. Move out so you can see past the target.
3. If clear move fully into the clear lane and floor it.
4. Blatt past the target making a lot of noise and frightning the idiot.
5. Pull back in front and carry on "making good progress".

It only works if you have a vehicle with very rapid acceleration in the 30 to 60 zone.

It is inherently safe as you only go if clear and once past the target it is easy to get back on your side quickly.

I should think a new +8 with side exhausts would make it a wonderous experience.....

I'm off to check my cam belt. I don't want it snapping on hard acceleration during the cake slice

I can fully concur that it is a wonderful experience to blat past someone, especially on the bike with the side-shot pipes although now I've put the true duals on they can also hear the bike as I move in front to make good progress
