For a French friend ...
The part he has is a push fit type (no thread) and is marked 7N02991 (I think ...). Anyone suggest a source ? What car is the radiator originally from, or is it a Morgan special ?

After reading this thread I understand why MMC changed to a mechanical switch on the pedal, so much simpler even if it needs de-fluffing regularly!

Our friend with a '99 4/4 had a press fit switch which blew out and before he was aware of it the motor overheated and the head was warped.
As chance would have it he was visiting the UK and only a few miles from Malvern. When they fixed the radiator they soldered the switch for extra security. He was told that this was often done for cars that were used in hot climates.

The push fit switch may have been of MGB origin. From the 76 facelift, the B had a push fit sender in the header tank. It was later modified with a spring clip which located under the sealing rubber and held it in place. I held mine with a blob of superglue until I got a clip sorted out. I actually fitted one of these to my Gilbern Invader header tank in 1990 and I can remember the sweat involved in cutting the hole exactly the right size. It worked though....... (MGB trivia buff).
