Good to hear, and enjoy the trip. The Overboard duffle was amazing on our trip. Our clothes stayed a lot drier than we did...........
Photos please when you get back.

Biffo,

have a safe trip and remember if it is breezy do not complain as breeze = less midges, maybe none!

A great route up is turn left at Gretna, through Dumfries and Galloway, over Arran by two ferries and then up Arglye peninsula.

I may well be following you in Edmund.

Thanks D

I am more or less doing as you suggest in my plans. Stopping at Dumfries House near New Cumnock first night. Then over to Arran via Ardrossan. Driving round Arran and out the other side. Then drive around Kintyre before stopping at the Kilberry Inn. Then to Oban and over to Barra for the Outer Hebrides.

Regards
Biffo

Biffo, I was not aware you could stay at Dumfries House, that would be fantastic.

You won't be far from me, I am on Solway Coast.

If you are going up the M74 then if you leave at Moffat and take the Auchen Castle road it goes parallel to Lead Hills / Elvanfoot, is generally empty and a joy. You can go all the way to Abington.

Your place to stay looks great.

All is going according to plan so far. I will post some pictures when I get back but there are a few in my Blog on www.ianjcsmith.blogspot.co.uk

Molly has performed admirably so far and has sparked conversation, and won admiring glances and comments everywhere she has been. There is a common theme of ladies of a certain age (let's politely say at least 60), when chatting at the car with their husband in tow, when they all come out with a variation of the same line "I had a boyfriend who had a Morgan when I was young, we did have fun - but then I met and married Bob/Bill/Derek and as you can see we now drive a Honda/Vauxhall/Toyota" with a rather sorrowful look in their eyes.

My only concern at the moment is the petrol filler lockable cap which is incredible difficult to get on and lock and doesn't seem to be sitting low enough in the hole meaning the spring loaded cap is difficult to close (and subsequently open). I'm terrified of either not being able to open it or breaking the key in trying to close it.

It could be the plastic has swollen due to the Ethanol content of the fuel you are using. This has been a problem with some motorcycles, KTM for one, I have suffered the problem with my bike. The answer is to gently reduce the diameter of the lock/plug with fine glass paper or wire wool and use the higher octane fuel as this has a much lower content of Ethanol.
