We are considering a new or newish 2014 M3W. Been for a drive with the nice people down here at Truro, loved it (who wouldnt). However, maybe my heart and enthusiasm was ruling my head. I have read most of the posts on this site concerning the M3W and, oh dear. So my question is, (to those that bought the updated 2014 version). Have you had the same problems? have you regretted your purchase of the Morgan? If youve had a problem free and wonderful experience it would be helpful to hear from you too. Many thanks from the Cornish Borderlands

Many thanks from the Cornish Borderlands Welcome to Talk Morgan! We have a 2014 version and took delivery in April this year. To date, we have some 3500 miles under our wheels from trips in this country and abroad. I have experienced frustrations with poor communications in the three way relationship between owner and factory/dealer, all of which ultimately ended entirely happily. Mechanically, only a final drive bearing and a front engine pulley oil seal. Both have been fixed in a satisfactory manner. Until recently I was under the impression that I had a rear crankshaft oil seal replaced, but investigations showed that this may have been effected by some very good cleaning up.. Personally, we have never ever paid that much money for a car. We're not affluent and the car was part funded by the estate of my wifes father, meaning that there was & still is, a lot of emotion invested in what Morgan market as a unique vision. My issues with the car are more to do with being let down by the realities of ownership, as the mismatching of expectations between factory and ownership are vast & is often why people write on here with such passion. There is no doubt the car was under developed from the start, and equally I doubt that the 2014 version is the pinnacle of the cars development. What it IS however, is the best to date. It is a unique animal in a world of blandness, and a talking point par excellence. It isn't a race car, it isn't a car for the daily commute but it will do everything in it's own inimitable style. It will make you smile & it will make you cry. It will open conversations with strangers that may change your life, but most of all it will ultimately become living history. Grab it before it's gone.

Hi
2014 model - 5 months - 3200 miles - no faults.
Great fun. Would I spend the money again - yes, damn yes!
But everyone's expereince is different, just remember to kiss the ash before every drive.

Welcome to TM. Do you have any experience of bikes, classic or vintage cars? If you do you aare likely to get on better with an M3W. I have a June 2013 car & have had problems which have been resolved & I dont regret my purchase. You will have more fun in it than any other car dispite its total impracticallity & frustrations. Do it!

Hi Grockle, welcome to TM and, even if a little prematurely, welcome to the wonderful world of Three Wheeler ownership. I'm sure you will sucumb like the rest of us, the difference being that you will be prewarned of any problems, whereas most of us went into ownership expecting a real car, not a mechano kit.
My 2013 model has actually been quite reliable in the 2000 plus miles since I bought it, although I have had a new Bevel Box under warranty, and an Empire suspension correction kit.
If you do buy a 2014, do not expect perfection, but Steve put it very well in his post, when he said that he would doubt that the 2014 version is the pinnacle of the cars development. What it IS however, is the best to date and like all modern technology you can wait forever for a better widget, and not ever enjoy the fun of ownership.
Having said that however, why not wait and take delivery of a new car [if that is what you are doing] in early spring next year, when they will be even more developed than they are now, otherwise, wait until the depths of winter and hunt around for a low mileage 2014 car.
We look forward to seeing more of you here on TM in the meantime.

Hi Grockle,
Our 2014 TW is pretty new, we just took a few trips so far, just roundabout 120 Kilometers. Anyway: So far everything went well. The steering is great/very easy; the engine starts and runs without any issue, the building quality looks good as well. The sound of the Bevel Box is also Ok so far - I don´t hear anything unusual. Just sometimes, in case you play around with the gas and clutch a bit more aggressively, it sounds like a "knock" against the back of the seat. But I guess that is somehow normal (folks: In case this is not normal – please let me know! ). And sure, when driving up to 100 Kilometers everything gets really loud/noisy and there are various sounds coming from basically everywhere (inside and outside the car), but that is part of the fun and makes it so special. Let´s see how the things will be after a few 100 Kilometers more but I hope and keep my fingers crossed that it will be Ok. To us the main point is and was: I´m driving German made company cars since years (Audi, BMW and Mercedes). They are perfect, so smooth to ride and they are safe. Most of the tours are business related and I’m very thankful, that my company is offering me with that option. When driving long ranges, there is nothing better. But: It is also pretty boring. I wanted something to share with my wife, something “entertaining”. We were thinking about a motorcycle, but this won´t give you the chance to sit side by side. And no bike can give you the feeling of a TW. There you are…
Cheers and have a good one! Alex

2000 kms in a week. No generic M3W issue to report (there was a version specific issue but of no relevance here). I heard no noise from the BB area, some whining from the compensator area, but within normality. All in all, great fun in a very unique way!

If you've had a problem free and wonderful experience it would be helpful to hear from you too. I can only report on the basis of one day of driving, but it really was a most exciting and pleasing experience; see here. Personally, we have never ever paid that much money for a car. We're not affluent and the car was part funded by the estate of my wifes father, meaning that there was & still is, a lot of emotion invested in what Morgan market as a unique vision ... It will make you smile & it will make you cry. It will open conversations with strangers that may change your life, but most of all it will ultimately become living history. That is very eloquent . I want one...
