Rev hanging was a hot topic a few years ago and restrictor plates appeared to offer a solution although I went down a different route. On my Blacktop Zetec I replaced the exhaust manifold with a less restrictive version a 200 cell cat and a free flowing exhaust, Librands set up, and the rev hanging disappeared and I have a very responsive engine that is a joy to drive. Not a cheap solution but it transformed the car.

Andrew, I find it interesting that it, in your case, had nothing to do with the 'idle speed control valve' - not primarily anyhow. Have you any idea of which part is most important in your solution? You also mention 'Librands set up' and I guess it relates to the hardware, not software... right? Easter: I read about others with the same problem... Regards

My blacktop Zetec was also transformed by the Librands exhaust, but it didn't affect the rev hanging at all, which is still there (but mine has never been that bad).
Lecat, I think Andrew meant the Librands exhaust "system" when he wrote "set up" - not "set up" as in programming terms. The English language is strange at times.

The Zetec rev hang seems to be a bit of a 'mystery'. Perhaps we should start a thread where those who have solved their problem can exchange info regarding methods. It would be nice to find the 'real' reason, if there is one (1)... nputtic, thank you for clarifying I think English is a richer language than Swedish and I am trying to develop my understanding of it. I read a lot and I am a great 'fan' of Brittish humour and I think the 'flexibility' of your language is a big part of it. I find it extremely joyful to watch Brittish TV-shows when they are available here in Sweden. We have lots of other good Brittish series and I watch most of them. The 'Tongue in cheek Friday humour' here on TM is the place to go when you're in need of a good laugh (and want to learn more about your language) Regards

Lecat, Nigel was absolutely right in that I was referring to the Librands exhaust manifold, 200 cell cat and silencer, the complete Librands system. As far as I am aware no other changes were done although my car was the development car and was dyno tested ((Dynometer not Dinosaur) so they may have fiddled with something else but I doubt it as I didn't pay any extra and they never said anything. Nigel is absolutely right the English language is strange!

Thank you for your answer Andrew. Still no obvious reason why your problem disappeared. I'm glad it did but it's obviously not a 100% certain solution... I appreciate your input Then I can only hope the 'strangeness' doesn't make me offend anyone by mistake...

Thomas, you have no need to worry about your understanding of and use of English. There are plenty of people born and raised over here that don't use it as well as you do!
