Apologies if this has been covered before, was interested how people are using sat nav's in their 3 wheelers. For me an essential bit of kit in a car like this, gives you the freedom to explore for new roads to enjoy and then hit home to return knowing you won't get lost without trace. Have tried putting it on the passenger screen but it fell off due to vibration, tried a beanbag mount on the centre console in front of the Gearlever which works to a degree until over enthusiastic cornering makes it slide off, it also vibrates off on tick over. Wondered if anyone had found a successful way of doing it or should I just buy a beefier mount for the screen.

The short answer is no, I'm as frustrated as you are!!

I use a Garmin Zumo 660 both on and off my bikes, and you can forget any suction mounting due to its size. On the bikes I use RAM ball mounts, so still thinking about dash board screw fixings to pick up on for a ball mount, but it's still on the drawing board..

For holidays, I mounted it in it's suction cradle and used plastic ties to loosely hold it onto the flat area ahead of the gear lever. This worked better than expected, but it's not in the zone for easy glancing. Better than getting wrong slotted in a busy French town, though!

Buy a Motorcycle satnav...!

I have a TomTom rider in the Roadster, bluetooth to an earpiece.
Advantage that it has a robust mount and is waterproof...and if you want it will also bluetooth to the phone.

I fabricated a bracket from 3mm alloy that is screwed to the back if the dash and power from the aux socket. The stock Rider mount is bolted to the bracket. There is a photo somewhere here, about a year ago. I'll either find it or re-post it!

Downside it and the Garmin equivalent are both expensive.

Interesting advice from both thanks, Am trying to use my Garmin in the 3 wheeler as it's a newer sat nav and has free updates, I also do have a tomtom rider which I used to have on a BMW bike, I will dig that out and start to research, I didn't really want to have to adapt or alter the car in any way as it's a new Brooklands and I want to keep it completely standard but accept I may have to.

I think the rider could be mounted to the tube under the dash without much disturbance.

My TomTom suction cup sticks nicely to the face of my MIG29 clock which is mounted in front of the gear lever.

Vibrates a bit on tick over but not too much, the main problem is if it is sunny it is hard to see the screen.

You could use the 40mm pipe clip 'trick' to construct a plate assembly that clips on to the down bars in front of the gearstick and mount the sat nav on that. See my post here where I mounted a panel for clocks..

No damage or drilling to the car at all.
If you can't get the clips in the UK, I can post some to you from France.

I just used a RAM ball mount with two holes. I used a bolt through one home on to the dash in place of one of the alllen bolts there.

I have a TomTom Rider (for Motorcycle Use, so waterproof and visible in the Sun) fixed with the System that comes with, see Fotos (but I have a different, smaller gear tunnel cover with a small place for stuff, so I used this to fix the TomTom with velcro):







I use it via bluetooth with an earplug, the TomTom can propose winding roads for Motorcycles (and Threewheeler too) and you can fill it up at home with tracks and individual POIs (Point Of Interests). It works fine, sometimes I loose the satellites for a short time.

Apologies for not being familiar with the 3 wheeler but if there is a tubular chassis member close at hand this will work.
On my 4/4 I use a Ram ball mount attached to the scuttle roll bar, It's designed for handlebars and Is attached using a jubilee clip, supplied, and that gives you the ball mount securely mounted and hidden when not in use. You then need an extension mount, for the 4 wheeler model RPR-B-111 but different lengths are available to suit. The last piece is that which joins the sat nav to the Ram mount and whilst RAM do make some designed for specific models I use the X grip which will take any sat nav/phone up to about 4.3 inches screen size. Power comes from the aux socket as Aldermog says.
The advantage of this approach is that you can position and angle the sat nav to suit and on my car it sits to the left and behind the gear leaver, when not in use you simply take the nav and mount off leaving the scuttle attachment in place, plus no alterations to the car at all.
Downside is that the vibration really gets to the current Tom Tom unit and it occasionally crashes, normally at the most inconvenient time. My previous Tom Tom which was stolen, not from the Morgan, never suffered this problem. As a result I am also considering a motorcycle unit as they appear to be more robust and have bluetooth capability.
