Google glasses linked to the satnav on your smart phone could be a solution when they come out maybe?

I use TomTom on my iPhone, mounted to the dash via a small, discrete magnetic pad, then with instructions bluetooth'd to a Sony MW600 headphone driver. I get music and then faded in-and-out instructions (from Yoda, as it happens) seamlessly. Works a treat.

I use a Garmin Zumo 660 (waterproof, meant for motorcycles, bulky and heavy) with the suction cup mount on the drivers or passenger screen. If I suction it good it will stay on for hours and hundreds of miles before it vibrates off. The key seems to be to mount it as low as possible on the screen and away from the edge so the vibration is minimized.

On my M3W if had used a RAM mount - jubilee clip fitting which clamps onto the down tube on the centre console it does not require any modifications to the car.

I use a Garmin friction mount plus a zip lock bag for waterproofing. Mount works well. The zip lock keeps it dry but does make seeing the screen tricky.

I stick my Garmin 2585 (digital TV receiver inside, thatīs why I got it) to the rev counter glass with the included suction cup and it stays in place most of the time.
In that location it is covered by the half tonneau and therefore readable. (LHD)
I hear and feel the revs.

No rattles etc, but I have to say the Garmin sat nav I bought is crap. It sends me on the most unexpected routes and often to somewhere completely different to where I intended. It got completely lost once in Sheffield, and that was after it directed me there rather than to Buxton!!!

Please tell me this whole thread is tongue in cheek. You can't get lost in the uk it's too small.
I do use sat nav for business meetings etc but for fun no way. Being temporarily not sure where you are is part of the fun.
There are foolproof systems available at all good book shops. I think they are still called maps
