I just picked up my 4+ 4 seater today and will be talking to the garage tommorow but I've been getting the engine warning and battery warning light coming on after a run down the M3. I noticed that between the steering wheel and the console there is a wiring loom that if I tapped it the battery light went on/off but the engine warning light stayed on. Anyone seen this or am I just being unlucky?

Rus, is the car new or pre-owned?

Okay, just read your other post and the car is an 06; therefore, this fault seem strange as you'd be inclined to think that any teething problems would have been resolved.
Let us know what the mechanic finds when they look the car over.

Don't worry Rus, it could be something real trivial like a loose wiring which caused the engine light to come on, did the engine lose power when the engine light came on? The chances are when you start her up again, everything will be back to normal. BTW where about do you based, and which dealer did you buy it from?

I checked her this mornign and both lights still come up and whilst the battery light is intermittant the check engine light is permantly on. I took it back to the dealer (Richard Thorne) this morning and they've taken her back. They are going to take the dashboard out and check the wiring. Apparently there is corrosion in one of the terminals causing the issue.
I'm in Newbury BTW

If you bought it from a dealer, it is their responsibility to repair the car. However, it is a shame they didn't ensure the car was right before you collected it.

It was good when I collected it just after putting on 80 miles on it I'm thinking it was just bad luck. I know they did some work so I'm not unhappy with the dealer yet and they did say they would drop it back to me when its fixed

Rus, I have bought both my Mogs seconhand from Richard. Helen's MG Midget was a trade in from me. My first car had 2 problems but they were fixed immediately. I am sure it will work out ok. Are you joining Thames Valley MOG? John
