Hi folks,

Nothing critical but I wanted to check if this is a known issue:
After tacking a few tours, I realized that the oil tank cap constantly loosen itself. Little amounts of oil leaking through the unscrewed cap. After examining the cap I realized: If I completely tighten the cap, the rubber gasket will get pushed inside the tank.
Obviously the gasket is not fitting 100%.
After a short trip yesterday I tried to screw the cap less tight to keep the gasket in place.
But with that I’m not sure if the cap won´t unscrew due to the vibrations...

Anyone with the same issue? Any smart ideas?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers and have a good one! Alex

I had this problem, oil was dripping down onto the bell housing. A new gasket was fitted at first service and has been ok since then.

Same issue here, after a couple of goes my dealer eventually fitted a 2014 cap which has a substantial washer on the inside of the cap supporting the rubber washer. This allows the cap to be screwed down hard so no leaks, and the rubber washer is properly supported so it doesn't rip etc.
My advise would be to refer the issue to your dealer / morgan. If the washer tears and falls into the tank , it could block the exit with untold damage.

Hi Nippymog,

excellent information - I'll check this with my dealer and let you know the results - the solution you described seems to be the best possible way...

Hi Folks,

cheers to my Morgan dealer: Believe it or not - I sent him an email on thursday, today I found the new oil tank cap with a new (and correct) gasket (inside rubber washer).
Already installed, tested and everything is clean, save now and no more leaking oil.
I´m deeply impressed and shows me their level of engagement - pretty promising!

Happy Weekend to all of you!

This happened to me too. I asked my dealer for a new cap and rubber gasket. Mine I think had fallen into the tank and the retrieval resulted in a small tear from the middle hole out wards. Oil was leaking down the sides. Amazingly Morgan sent the dealer a cap with a dip stick attached, not once but twice. My dealer actually took the gasket off his demonstrator & sent it to me. Surprised others have had the same issue. I don't recognize the cap / no gasket in the picture above my post.

The same happened to my 2014 two times. Now I have made my own gasket with rubber that has a fabric layer.
