If they try to deal with me with that kind of attitude they'll be sorry. Anyway, my exhaust is being provisionally repaired so I can bring the car to Lisbon. I'm going to pay for that repair, and I expect to be refunded without any hesitation. Then I want a new exhaust. ANd I will keep wanting a new exhaust until one lasts more than 2 years from new. I suppose Morgan wants to keep selling cars and knows what it needs to do to keep doing it.

Or could the company survive so long because there was no internet ?
So customers couldn't talk together and all did accept the breakdowns ?

Wow! Sorry for all the problems you are having

So some of you know I built my Eco Exo R that was modified a great deal. I put over 1154 miles on it with not a single problem.

How can someone put together a vehicle with no prior experience and end up with a reliable vehicle the first time out without all the resources available to the company that I do not possess?

The Morgan is not that complex that a good troubleshooter with an engineering background ( This I do not have) cannot come up with permanent fixes for the problems you are having.

I study hard and put quality components where needed such as the rectifier to never have any problems as it is the best available in the world at this time.

The quality to detail is the difference between dependability and failure.

I feel what I see on this forum that the Yugo was more reliable than the Morgan!

For the royalty you are paying for the feeling of the three wheeler it should include total reliability in this machine.

Maybe the Moto Guzzi was a better engine as I have not heard the same problems with this engine.

I'm still confused why Morgan would try to make the exhaust in welded sections this long.

With the proper supports, clamps can be used and look good at the same time.

The muffler should have a clamp on header pipe and a clamp on tail pipe, not a one piece welded assembly.

Harley probably has more vibration on our touring bikes as the motor/transmission is rubber mounted and NOT the rubber mounting that the Morgan uses on the motor mounts. My motor at idle rocks front to back about 1/2" at idle and the exhaust is all clamped together and the rear muffler hangers are through sliding mounts to allow for this vibration.

This is not rocket science.

Yup! If the engine flexes then put the proper flexible supports in the proper locations.

Harley has many bikes with custom exhausts that do not have this problem.

Analyze and fix once and for all. It cannot be that hard in todays world.

My guess is that this exhaust has not been designed beyond how it looks on the car. Morgan probably took the first Brooklands to it exhaust supplier and they made it to look as per the Cad design without any engineering thoughts on vibration and expansion which are unique to the S&S engine.

I agree with Dan, a clamped on silencer would be a more robust solution.

Either clamped on, or slip on with spring retainers as my motorcycle has.

I'm supposed to call my dealer next week to discuss "upgrades" (compensator etc) but this thread is just making me want to give my car back and tell him to sell it.

Charles, sorry to hear of your problems and the complete lack of positive response from Morgans.
I suggest that you cut out the middle men and send an e-mail direct to Steve Morris. I did find him very helpful when sorting out the many problems I had with my 3 wheeler.
