I was doing some post trip maintenance this afternoon and had the front cover off. While rooting around in front and below the oil tank, I discovered that the bracket to which the ignition coil is mounted, had cracked it's weld and come loose from the 2 inch round frame tube that runs from side to side in that area. It appears after taking a good look that the bracket was held against the tube and a bead of weld was run across the exposed surfaces. There was no evidence of penetration into the joint area where the flat edge of the bracket contacted the tube.
We were on the road for 3 weeks (2,400 miles) so no telling how long it had been broken. The good side of this is that it is not a show stopper as the whole business just kind of lays on top of the wiring below. Check yours next time the front cover is off.

I don't know a lot about welding, but I have thought for a long time that a trained monkey might have made a better job of it! I feel quite ashamed that this is the level of British craftsmanship these days. Even if the chassis' are subbed out, there is no excuse.

Many thanks for drawing our attention to yet another failure point. The problems just seem to keep coming. Really sad that MMC seems to have lost its way on quality, attenion to detail and customer care.

Is it just Three Wheelers that are suffering, or are there any reacurring problems with any of the 4 wheel range?

Don't know about new cars built under this new management ...
... but my 2010 Plus 4 has been 100% problem free until today. So far I just added fuel, serviced as planned, drove it for nearly 20.000 kms and raced it in 10 hill climb events.
I'd say any 2010 Plus 4 (Duratec 2L) should be a great, reliable, fun car.

The Trads do pretty well, but there have been glitches, like the soft rear spring period up to 2012. Then there's the short service life of the original kingpins.
Other than that, the problems are more 'one off'.

Other than that, the problems are more 'one off'. As I'm approaching 75000 miles and still on the original kingpins, I beg to differ. However, plenty of other things have broken.

What sort of things Ken? Anything really serious? How helpful has your dealer and the factory been in sorting out your problems?
