A quick update.

An increasingly unpleasant smell in the garage prompted me to have a bit of a tidy this morning and I quickly found the decomposing body of a mouse. As I was dealing with it another one ran across the garage floor, prompting a nifty bit of spade work!

So apologies for implicating the squirrels, I have removed the squirrel trap and put down more mouse poison.

Poor old squirrels will sue under some European legislation. Love my red squirrels and they don't know that I have a roof as it hasn't been up!

Poison the wee blighters but mouse traps with peanut butter or Milky Way work really well.

One thought to ponder - are you storing any food of any kind in your garage? In the 1980's we kept bags of horse feed in the garage. On checking the wife's car one day, I found horse feed in the air filter. From that day onwards, I have never allowed any form of grain or feed to be stored in the garage.

Things could be worse, as we are always told...

But seriously, during the last major heatwave year in France (2003, I think), I did not drive my BMW for four or five days. When I turned the key it was missing a cylinder. I lifted the bonnet and found that some ******* rats had nested there to keep cool. For amusement, I suppose, one of them had chewed through the electrical sender for the injection to one of the cylinders.

I had an e-mail discussion with my BMW dealer and attached a photo. He said that it was essential to change the whole injection unit, ie approximately 500 euros.

I drove on three cylinders to my local garage where the bloke did a "temporary fix" and charged me 20 or 30 euros. It worked perfectly for the next three years until I sold the car.

[Edit]I don't know why I have two sets of weasel images. I tried to edit one out, but failed.
