Good afternoon to you

Have any of you fitted, or considered fitting, the Starcom1 incar communications system for the Driver/Passenger as dicussed in the latest MOG MAG.

While some of you might wish to continue to shout above 60mph to communicate or wish to remain in a "self generated" conversationless zone, there have been times when I have wanted to talk to "she who must be obeyed" without damaging my vocal cords.

I would be grateful for any comments

On fast roads - where there really is no need for conversation - I wear ear protectors. They cut out everything except (surprisingly) the wonderful thrum of the engine. In fact I swear appreciation of the engine sound is enhanced.

I find swmbo has no trouble in making herself heard whenever she feels so inclined. Can't see the point in making it easier and therefor more frequent.

Not sure if it is true as I never bothered checking but on a rally years ago we were given a very gentle caution by one of Her Majesty's Constabulary that using an Intercom (a full blown Sonic set up) was illegal on the road? As I say it was more advice than a warning so I never took a lot of notice, also I don't see how they can be as what about hands free car phone kits that have earpieces....OK I realise that not everything available for sale is legal but does anyone know what the law is?

Intercoms are legal on bikes, so I can't see how they can be legal in cars...

I agree that in the M3W an intercom is possibly essential, in Aldermog conversation is easy up to about 60. I lined the cockpit with Dynamat acoustic insulation and it made a big difference...

As others have said the engine/exhaust note is part of the experience. Shouted conversation isn't!!

We used Autocom on all our motorbikes with kenwood walkie talkie's for bike to bike and have done for years and now, so it was a natural progression to use Auto com in the Morgan with a loud side exit exhaust. The Autocom is used with Peltor headsets, very good run the phone, navigation, and the iPod for Music.

Peters made quite a difference in Aldermog with his dynamatting exercise - I intend to do likewise (if I can find the space to do it that is) it has transformed the car.

I have natural advantage of growing up in Brum where the accent was crafted by heavy industry and seems to cut through all noise/sound types (annoyingly so for others I guess) ;-)
