I am a new owner and am looking for storage for my 4/4 for several weeks in the winter.
I just need somewhere dry and secure. I imagine the battery would need charging perhaps once a month? so would need access for this, unless the site operator offers this facility.
I live in the Manchester area and am aware of a couple of commercial operators in the south Midlands but would prefer somewhere nearer if possible. I have spoken to several dealers, some of whom offer the service, or recommend companies local to them but it seems my more local dealers do not. Can anyone help please?

Why not use your car in the winter?

Forgive me if this is an un-necessary question, but is it vital you store it? Much better to drive it on crisp winter days. But, if stored, ensure power is available and keep a battery conditioner connected. Mine is a CTEK XS 3600. During the last four years the conditioner has been connected without fail each time the car is garaged, and it has never failed to start first time.

I also but a large bowl of salt inside the car cheaper than a Dehumidifiers

Welcome to TM. We're just along the M56 near to Chester & get great satisfaction in using it during the winter too just avoiding the rally salty days. However, if you do want to store you could try these people between Macclesfield & Wilmslow http://www.ccbenz.co.uk/?page_id=71. I've no personal knowledge or connection so can't vouch for them but might be a starting point.

Please don't store the car. Not only are they brilliant in winter as the often lower grip makes for lower speed fun but using the car regularly is the best way to keep it in good condition. I would recommend using the tonneau cover to keep as much heat in as possible if you are in the car on your own. Don't worry about it raining, we all wash our cars and that gets them wet as well, and even in the snow they are surprisingly capable and brilliant fun. I thought I was mad driving my 4/4 in the snow with the hood up and heater keeping me toasty but a plus 8 coming towards me hood down and driver grinning beneath his flying helmet and goggles made me feel like a wimp. It was a heartily waved greeting as we passed!

You just have to keep those wheels and engines turning to prevent dementia setting in.

Taken on Dartmoor a couple of years back in the 4/4 Sport topless sans sidescreens - the previous Plus 8 and this one will be regular winter visitors to Princetown for an early heart attack on a plate...



They are like us totally waterproof provided the appropriate orifices are covered - and a good drying run afterwards or borrow the Mrs hairdryer.

I agree Richard. The enjoyment of driving when it's -4C with no hood is magical. A good flying jacket and that fab heater on the 4/4 Sport makes you think summer time isn't that much better! Apart from pavement TOTH wear less in the summer!
