What can I say but wow... What a transformation. Had the Empre Kit fitted, still using the original Spax shocks. Had the Centra drive fitted and the cooling fan.
The thing feels as though it should. No more steering wheel shake, no more demented canary sounds coming from the front. All I can say is wow.

Congratulations KJFB. My first drive with the Empire Kit was a revelation. PaulJ said he could hear my WHOOPIE all the way from California to across the pond!

Another thing fellow M3W sufferes is no longer suffer anymore. If one mod you do, just put the empire kit in and change the steering wheel, you will be amazed at what a wonderful vehicle this really is

Great news, I'm glad it did the trick. The only trouble is that you'll be driving the car faster everywhere now.......................

I have an early 2012 model and want to add the "comfort" kit or the Empire kit. However have hit a bit of an obstacle. I have been told by the New Zealand morgan people that a car with the "comfort" kit failed vehicle compliance.
It seems that the extending of the steering rod end mounting is considered dangerous as it doesnt deal with the sideways forces adequately ( or something along those lines). This would also apply to the riser in the Empire kit. Any fitting of these would need to go for compliance.
Any comments?
It seems that the only option would be to buy the new revised uprights. As these are "factory standard" there should be no compliance required.
Could get adjustable shocks and lower the front, but then the fouling of the manifolds is problematic
For me, it is a goodtime to decide on something as the car has been in bits for some months waiting for morgan to decide who/how/what/why and to do engine rebuild after camshaft failure and twisted splines on crankshaft found.

I am running a combination of the comfort kit and the upper a arms from the empire kit. We did 2,400 miles this summer over all types of road surfaces with speeds from an idle to over 100 mph and I couldn't be happier with the handling. I prefer the comfort kit solution to Empire's solution as I feel the upper brace adds to the strength. A good welder could make the upper bracket permanent if you were so inclined. I'm guessing that Morgan felt this was more cost effective than sending us all new uprights. In your case P964, I would bite the bullet and get the new up rights as your problem is more beuracratic than mechanical. I would not drop the ride height as there is a lot stuff in the roadways that you might not clear. Hang in there, once it is sorted, it will all be worth it!

I mentioned that one of the, so far unresolved, problems was with the angle of the upright not bisecting the contact patch of the tyre, if you do go for the new uprights, and having had a word with Bill Chaplin, it may be worth my while buying your old ones, to offset the cost, and asking Bill to play around with them to see if he can sort out a solution.

The other thought is that Morgan may let you have a new set of uprights under warranty or as a goodwill gesture, as your licencing authority will not allow their comfort kit? I would still be interested in getting your uprights, if they are available. Just a thought.

I have no faith in Morgan helping in any way. Not in my lifetime anyway.
Replacing the uprights will depend on how much the replacements will cost, plus freight and possible GST of 15%.
Just one of the problems when living in the Colonies.

Hi Nigel, initially I fitted the Spax adjustable dampers and lowered the ride height by 35mm back and front. This sorted the bump steer out as the car was originally designed to tun at this ride height. There has been no fouling of exhausts or road humps, even with two decent sized occupants.
With that sorted I then fitted the Empire upper wishbone set up just to put the cherry on the cake.

Hi Nigel , if you do go for the new uprights you will also have to modify the original or get new mudguards .

I had the new uprights fitted when the factory replaced my chassis , they replaced the mudguards as well . I had had the comfort kit fitted before the chassis broke , but it feels much improved with the new uprights and chassis , a different car infact .
