Long press to reset. As in several seconds I think.

Hi Dishy, on my 2000reg 4/4 I just press the reset button momentarily to zero the trip. It usually jumps back to total mileage immediately afterwards. Like a lot of other Morganistas, I rely on the tripmeter for an indication when to refuel, the fuel guage itself being notoriously inaccurate. Gerry.

Thanks for the replies fellas.i will try again. I didn't realise until I saw some posts about the fuel gauge inaccuracies. A good reason to know how to use the trip meter. Why is the fuel gauge so quirky?

I have to confess to taking almost 2 YEARS to find the trip meter button - when I caught my finger on it by accident !

On a 4/4 Sport (2009),you have to press the button briefly to change from total mileage to trip mileage, then press it upwards and hold for 4 or 5 seconds to zero it. I find that sometimes it jumps back to total mileage without zeroing but trying a second time usually works!

There's also an instrument light dimmer - it only took me 3 months to find that one (on rhs under dash near drivers door. I found that this "dial" moved clockwise and anti-clockwise but seemed to actually do nothing. (I always fiddled with it during daylight hours !). Only when I had my first service did I mention it, to be told it dimmed the instruments : I twiddled the knob ( nono Gentlemen, please ) that evening and the instruments went dim, then bright again!!!

Cheers

Jeremy, you obviously have the deluxe version of instrument lighting adjustment - I didn't realise there was a bright setting, mine only does 'dim' and 'even dimmer' !

rofl Agreed Peter - I was being "generous" to the procedure. Perhaps that's why it's called a Dimmer switch getcoat

Cheers !

The man who invented the Dashboard Rheostat is the same bloke who invented low energy light bulbs and modern toasters.

Any one ever found a use for instrument dimming in any car under any circumstances?

Don't you never dim the living room lights with your early girlfriends.
The dashboard dimmer is the same thing! Just ask JLT.
