First thing I'd do is a full brake fluid flush it should be done every 2 years regardless of distance travelled

As to Aeroquip hoses - standard brake hoses are reinforced braided anyway, you just don't see any bling on the surface


People change hoses are convinced it made a massive difference, but that's more than likely to be the new brake fluid you're noticing!

That means a lot of money

Brake fluid changed last year and checked by the garage and the fluid was okay, but will be changed when overhauled.
Never been convinced by the brake feel from new.
Yes, it will ultimately brake very well, but general reduction in forward motion seems to need more pressure than my '72 4/4 which was unassisted.

This difference in feel between your old 72 4/4 (I owned a 72 4/4 for four or five years) and your current +4 could be due to the master cylinder bore size although there's not much you can do about.

Titus, can I suggest this: stick your head down into the footwell and depress the brake pedal. Try and determine how much 'free' movement there is before you meet pedal pressure. A lot of movement may mean poor adjustment.

I can't speak for your car, but Morgans generally have an adjustable pushrod with a clevis bracket and spilt pin that fastens the pushrod to the brake pedal. If you have excess movement and it needs adjustment, this is one possible area for a solution.

I have a 2013 plus 4 and the brake pedal only moves about half an inch before becoming rock hard no sponginess at all. Brilliant brakes much more feel than my modern Ford which is really sensitive.

I have adjusted the rear self adjusters as in Gomog [url=http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/APBRAKES.html][/url] Page 6.
It has taken the excess travel out of the pedal and feels much better.
The handbrake is also better.
Morgan assemble the handbrake first apparently, probably to stop it running down the hill between workshops This causes the handbrake to prevent the self adjusters from working.
When I released the cable and pumped the pedal the adjusters tightened up by 4 clicks.
Now for the fluid change, brake pads and Aeroquip hoses.

All done.
Much better with more feel and better balance to the braking.
No problems found with front or rears.
Probably the most obvious change was the adjusting procedure of releasing the handbrake and pumping the foot brake.
