I remember you attended a Norcemog meeting at the Chetwode Arms in the mid 1980s when you were on a return visit from Australia.
Ted Wood sadly died last year; I see Dave Birch regularly and altough Mogless he attends the High Peak noggins; Chris Browning died about 25 years ago. I'm not sure about the rest of your old 'Norcemog' 'muckers' such as Brian Leigh-Bramwell and Phil Fay.
I joined at the tail end of the fracas when Norecmog had it's own RAC MSA competition license which the MSCC was not happy about.

What about the Spot-On catalogue?
I spent hours browsing those, and do you remember the Vauxhall Craftsmans Guild? Forgot about that one! I think I was just a bit too young for the Vauxhall CG. Is that how Vauxhall got all their cars designed in the 70s and 80s?!

When I was young I couldn't wait for the latest catalogues to come out for Dinky, Corgi and Matchbox cars. I used to save up my pocket money and then plan which ones I would go out and buy over a period of time. I had a lot of fun doing that and explains why I still have them all, most of them in the boxes too. I still do that today  We'll have to compare which ones we've got next time we meet....

I could have written your post - same story exactly!
I have collected all the toys I NEVER had now - and have about 400 Dinkys .
I corresponded with a French kid when I was 11 and we swopped.
They bring back wonderful memories of a much enjoyed childhood. I lived in the Wirral as a kid, and now have all my memories up here in tropical Queensland.I was a member of Norcemog 35 years ago - and Edited MORGAN MISCELLANY. I lived on the Wirral too for a few years until 15 years ago. My  doesn't really understand what my collection of cars means to me and wonders why I don't sell them. I probably would be on the way to another Morgan or at least a good upgrade if I did but some memories are just priceless...

I subscribed to the VCG for probably three years and had the pack each year. It was a mechanism to involve young students in designing what turned out to be show cars/concept cars. It was a very canny way of pinching ideas from kids. I never got further than the pack and the winners magazine. Some of the winning cars were professional model builders quality and I'm guessing that some boys had a lot of help! Whats worrying is how many of us had parallel lives........even ending up here. Just come back from the school run hoods up - on our coats. So satisfying as the light returns with the sun on the homeward journey.
