Go to Halfords buy a £15 one, put it on the car in the garage gets some pins and pin fit it, then mark with tailors chalk to trim allowing extra for seam edges. Now press gain onto the sewing machine to stitch up the seams and make good the edges. pop down the local sewing shop and buy some strong elastic and stitch on hoops to hold down in place and then proof with tent proofer. Job done. and it will cost about 20% what you looking at. Mine work a treat and is TOTALLY water proof, folds up flat and goes behind seat.

Don't be so sure the plugs on a Duratec are sealed. There have been a number of cars where water has got past the seals...

I got the advise below from John Taylor in Phoenix Design:

"The main object of the Unique storm Cover gives protection not only to the cockpit when the hood is either up or down but the bonnet vents as well.
This cover prevents rainwater entering the engine bay which is more of a problem with the Zetec engines. The rainwater collects around the spark plugs and gives rise to starting problems. Also we had problems with the +8's where rainwater collected around the coil.
However, there not being much difference in price , I've always recommended the Unique Storm cover as it covers all options and with more straps is more secure in high winds. The cockpit covers as with all other makes tend to 'balloon' in high winds."

+1 for the John Taylor cover.

first tried the one from MMC and was disappointed as I was not convinced with the material. Biggest issue is that it does not fit when you have the wind defelectors. The JT design allows for them and material is better. Have used it regularly and very happy with it.
Would buy it again.

Bought mine in 2006 and still going strong.

The big cover is superb, but takes up a bit of space, and I wouldn't use it on a dirty car. So when touring, the cockpit cover makes more sense - less storage space and can be fitted over a dirty soft top! (I do have both and have used both).
But the Zetec/Duratec does get water in the plug wells, so you need some sort of weatherproofing. A plastic bin liner over the engine would do, but you would need an unmissable note on the steering wheel.
Adrian - my first cotton indoor cover for the BGT was made that way. Cotton curtain lining material pinned over the car and stitched my M.I.L who was an accomplished seamstress. I still have it, but not the BGT.

I have the Walker St Clair cover. It is great value and works well, taking up little space when folded up. As I have "reduced bonnet louvres" there is no risk of water collecting on the plugs of my Zetec engine. it can be fitted over the hood, or just over the open cockpit if you're expecting a shower when parked.
