Those DP2243 pads (Austin Princess - isn't that amazing!) are the ones I have fitted to my 2005 4/4 factory calipers which don't look at all the same as the current Caparo calipers. Are you absolutely sure you've been supplied the correct pads for your car, as the overlap looks all wrong?

You could always get the inner lip skimmed on the disc in situ on the car, but it does highlight that the callipers, pads and discs are not an exact match.

From the Caparo catalogue..........
Disc Pad Set (Cast Iron and Aluminium Calipers) HF201 (MBS1734)
The pads are a perfect fit on the Roadster with the older calipers, which I guess is what you have on yours.
Numog - yes good advice, but it will have to wait until I've attended to some other bits & pieces!

It seems to me that the disc is a bit too small on the outer diameter - are those on your Roadster a bit bigger?

No they're the same size. The caliper wouldn't allow any extra diameter. Clearance is very tight. The solution is a pair of new discs, then to shave the corners off the pad backplates, which would be eight corners to shave. Then the exposed metal would need protecting, but the pads would sit a bit closer in. Is it worth it? Probably not. The thickness of green paint on the backplates doesn't help, but the originals overlapped by a similar amount.

noop my pads sit a little high in my caparo calipers over the disc on my roadster also not as much as it appears in the green pads photo.
Like I said earlier though it's better than getting that crusty ridge on the circumference IMHO of course as it's a fully exposed edge whereas the inner isn't

I'm going to bed them in and then take a view. Not quite done yet as working on the gaiters. Must sweeten MrsW and get the sewing machine out.

So now onto the final stage of this job, previously done on my Roadster a few years ago. First the leather inner gaiters. Cut from fairly thin leather, and with hand stitched velcro, 10mm wide. Then treated with Nikwax. This is to resist water from the outside, and protect from grease on the inside. Test fit on spare rebound spring. And fitted..........secured with cable tie at the top. Next the outers - made from mohair and slightly longer than my standard single layer gaiters to fit around the leather. Fitted......... Finally the aluminium shields: Formed around the jack handle......... Test fit: Painted - with 42mm exhaust fixings. So that's the end of this job. Next is the full service, and all the parts are now on hand.

Dave - How often do you inspect the build up of grease on the inside?

"As necessary" - when it becomes visible. It only takes a few minutes to remove and it can be done without jacking up.
