From my experience, the Blockleys behave more consistently but I don't think that outright grip is greatly altered.

I now have the Blockleys and they certainly talk,to you more than the Avons
They must have more grip as I feel I can now drift the back end very slightly on certain corners and now apply some degree of counter steer. I'm not an expert on handling and certainly never got my knee down in many years of biking. However it's obvoius tiff was driving like a prat for the cameras and did some dis-service to the 5 speeder. It will bite back if you over cook it or lose concentration on the wrong surface ( damp leaves) but that's part of the fun, isn't it?

I'd go with all of the above. The Blockleys have more grip and a much stiffer bias ply. Bump the pressure up to 25/26 lbs and it will be a very happy tire and the car will respond very well to the change.

Both of the drivers in the vid did a huge disservice to the car and the viewers. This car takes some finesse and time to learn properly. I still can't believe the amount of time it took for me to "get" this beastie and to really have fun with that knowledge. I thought I was a good driver before. I'm a better one now.

Watching Tiff doing that disastrous turn and almost rolling it made me cringe.

However, is this perceived change in balance at least partly caused by the fact that your rear tyre is now a bit more worn? I am pondering this question in relation to my own M3W and I am really not sure of the answer.

Tyre technology is a dark art. They are not just "black and round". If, for example, you put brand-new tyres on the rear wheels of a rear-wheel drive car with well-worn front tyres, it can feel as if you have made some drastic change to the damping.

Very good point. However still have quite a bit of tread on the back end. Certainly the old girl is not really a drifter.
It's interesting to note that my old Capri's( yes I admit it) were seen as a bit of a joke on the handling front. However they were great fun in the dry and now would be considered a real drifter. If they had had the benifit of decent tyres I wonder what they would of felt like. Those were the days when a 165 was a wide tyre!!!

John Miles, the racing driver/engineer/journalist/superbrain, designed and fitted a small steel strap that prevented the rear axle of the Capri from moving laterally out of synch with the chassis during hard cornering. It was simple to fit and it worked as well as a Panhard rod at a fraction of the cost, transforming the handling.

It has, but variety is the spice of life. Used to be in the Ducati owners club and all they talked about was Ducati's and how everything else was s**t compared to them. Incredibly dull.
