As I said before: all the trad cars built today (and in the last few years) have the same body (or cockpit). There are some variations on some details but they are essentially the same. The mudguards are hand cut for each car to give the correct coverage for the wheels and tyres fitted. The width of the tyres varies from 165mm to 205mm. Logically (said Spock) this gives a variation in 10mm steps of up to 40mm per side or up to 80mm in the overall width of the car. In practice, due to differing wheel widths, from 5 to 6.5 inches, and wheel offsets I believe the overall difference can be somewhat more.
Without considering the older models the difference in width of the cars is entirely in the mudguards.
The distance from the headlight to the outside of the mudguard should be the same on all cars as the "raw" mudguards are all the same when they arrive at the factory from Superform. As they are cut to width the distance from the headlight to the cowl varies and is quite noticeable between one model and another.
Hi Peter, did you drive the car Borghi has for sale?
Ciao Alberto
Yes I did. A very nice car which, I believe, has now been sold. More will be revealed in due course.
The dash has the speedo in front of the driver, the tacho is to the left of the dash centre panel and the multi-guage is furthest from the driver. I will try to get a better photo for the Dash Photo thread.
indeed we can notice a difference between the cowl and the headlamps with the 4/4 of our friend Tony
In my view your 70th Anniversary looks wider than your friends 4/4 but she is quoted as being narrower claiming 1630mm...Or is it the rear width of the newer 4/4 which makes the difference?
