Chaps could I please ask for your assistance on two points:-

Firstly, please post your new topics in the most appropriate section. Yesterday I spent a lot of time doing house keeping and moved a lot of posts to the correct forums. For instance, there were quite a few M3W & Classic Morgan posts in the Malvern Arms. Topics that fit into an obvious area should be posted in those areas for the sake of clarity and to make them easier to find when using the search function. I don't mind moving the odd one but it has become far too common and even now I am yet to go back and move all the historical ones from the past 12-months. Paying a little more attention to the section you are adding a new post to, and questioning whether it is the appropriate one, will save me a lot of time and benefit all the members of TM.

Secondly, could I please ask everyone to read the terms of use for the For Sale & Wanted section. In particular, may I please draw your attention to point five. I spend an inordinate amount of time approving posts and far too many of them are comments and banter rather than specific questions relating to the item on sale or wanted. I had to make this section fully moderated because it was being abused by people joining the site just to tout their wares, spamming and making a general nuisance of themselves; therefore, whilst the changes improved the site for members, it is another demand on my time. The section isn't eBay, there are no fees to use it, and therefore, it is provided solely for the benefit of members. If the rules cannot be adhered to, I will have to reconsider how/if we can offer this facility.

Thank you.

Re Simon's second note

May i suggest that if anyone wishes to Banter and discuss an item for sale or Wanted, immediately after the advert is placed the first respondent Copies and Pastes to the Arms or Soap Box, therefore eliminating the Traffic and work for Simon in the For Sale & Wanted section.

Would this help ? hide

I am probably guilty and will take note. I agree with the cut and paste idea.

Would it be possible just to moderate new threads in sale and wanted then allow questions and comments to go straight in?

Hi Dean, point seven of the Rules states the following:

Quote:
7) Do not post items that are for sale elsewhere if you are not the owner. This section of the site is not a discussion forum and therefore items that are advertised by other people, should not be posted or linked to from within this particular area of Talk Morgan. Should you wish to discuss a car, or any other item, that is for sale elsewhere, please do so in the relevant section of the site.

...therefore, not only do I agree with your sentiment but it has already been stated as an option in the rules of that section. wink

In fairness JtL, my post wasn't aimed at any member in particular and whilst you were once quite bad for being a posting Desperado who knew no borders and recognised no boundaries grin2 , I've noted in recent times you have become less crazy2 and more thinking - which has made my job easier! Keep up the good posting work!

The site software either allows for full moderation (all posts in a given section approved) or none. There is no option which allows me to approve a new topic and then not have to approve each subsequent post.

What currently causes issues is two fold. Firstly, people posting comments on a thread; this slows down the process and adds little to the topic. Secondly, people not reading that the section is moderated and as a result posting the same thread multiple times because it doesn't show the first time they post it. This means I need to edit and delete the extra posts, so that we don't end up with the same item wanted/for-sale many times.

Thanks for those compliments rofl never judged myself as a Deperado who knew no borders and reconised no boundaries wait till I tell swmbo tonight when I am getting ready for bed . What a chat up line that would have been. Beware lads keep your wives away at noggins I shall steal them and your mog and leave them over some border. Don't know if I want to sing Kenny Rogers Desperado , Bob Marley I shot Sheriff or should that be Madonna Borderline . innocent When to be honest Like a Virgin is more fitting of me .
