So are we saying here that if you rig up a relay that takes a signal off the headlight circuit which must be normal wiring near the headlamp bulb and the relay power conections is hot wired to the battery via a fuse at the battery and then the relay earths via the chassis.
This provides power to the driving lamps.
That the tiny current off the headlight circuit to excite the relay to make the power circuit will turn on a canbus fault in the ecu.
Now that would just be unfare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can purchase CANBUS friendly lights (they just match the expected within range impedance - to avoid a lamp on the dash)
The thing is however is the extra wiring there as in the classic mogs?
The photos I have from Jays factory tour only show 3 maybe 4 connectors (proper waterproof locking type) certainly not a cluster of spare bullet connections and these go through a single rubber boot in the internal wing/bulkhead. Mark, could you send me a photo? If canbus then a light swap is relatively easy, provided that the bulbs are claimed to be can-bus compatible. But adding additional lights may well be not. As Eddie suggests putting a traditional relay in the circuit may well confuse the "brain". Does anyone make an "inductive" relay, triggered electronically simply be the passing of an electrical current? We shall have to do some research. At the moment I'm getting conflicting information about the nature of the lighting circuit. So I've asked the factory....

Why not just change the headlamps to a better spec (canbus compatible) ? Might be easier ??

the factory fitted driving lamps and a switch for them to my 2012 +8. They are bracketed onto the front wing panel and are rigid. I slap fitter the brighter bulbs that Rob at Librands supplies. I later had Luigi Borghi in Milan fit a clock. I mention that as Luigi said that not much of the wiring is canbus.

Peter, I have the "Snow Queen" Plus 8. I have let Luigi Borghi fit a long badge bar and on them mounted two lights, as well as overriders. Looks nice. Unfortunately I have some issues with the functioning of them. My little baby is currently convalescing at Malvern Links for a few "niggles" and I have asked them to sort out the wiring. So it is definitely easily done.
