was it difficult to install? i wasn't sure if there was much prep work required. do you have any pics from the side showing the wrap, i couldn't tell where it stopped. how's it looking now that you've got some miles on them?

Thanks everyone, I think I'll just go for uprated H4 bulbs like the Nightbreaker. Its dipped beam I find inadequate, I hate driving on unlit roads with streams of traffic coming towards me.
Another thought, Angel Eyes hidden behind mesh like Atalante has fitted but I suspect the mesh would reduce reduce any benefit.

Tim - Nightbreaker or Phillips Extreme H4's will indeed improve things a lot, within the abilities of a 7" old-school reflector of course. The Angel Eyes are for looks only though and will have zero impact on dipped-beam driving at night I'm afraid.

Blake, I'll need to take another picture of them for you, as the only others I have are front-on it seems right now. The answer is that they are wrapped right back to the end of the headers, where the silencers join. They key to doing the wrap is to use plenty of neat jubilee-style clips to hold the ends tightly to the pipe, or they will come off. I made the midtake of wrapping in the direction from cylinder head to silencer, where I should have done it the other way round. This makes sure that the overlaps are 'streamlined' into the wind blast, rather than not. This helps prevent fraying somewhat, a symptom from which I am mildly suffering at present. You should also soak the material in water before wrapping, as it helps things set and kinda stick better.

Ah, fraying - I am suffering a bit of that, myself, at the moment.

Yes they are impressive. Didn't Blake fit a set to his first Three Wheeler? I'm not sure how good value for money they are though. If I spent that amount [$400 - $600] on a set, I would want to do an awful lot of night driving. I reckon a set of extra powerful bulbs and maybe a set of small driving lights would do the job. In my personal opinion, I would want some decent low beam lights as most high beams are pretty good these days anyway.

Upon reading Blake's endorsement of the J.W. Speaker LEDs I bought a pair. They have a great low beam. Beautiful coverage.

Only real testimony I can offer is that when I hit a deer and it took the right lamp bucket right off. When I finally stopped the car the bucket finally caught up with me. I retrieved it and while the bucket was a mangled mess of scratches and bent metal the LED was beautiful. When the new bucket showed up I popped the old LED in and it fired up!

Try that with an incandescent!
