Does that mean that if the odometer says I've done 4,000 miles I've only actually done 3,600? With limited mileage insurance that's a bind.

Having said all that, I think the M3W speedo is more accurate than the one on my Aero 8. I'm pretty sure they can be re-calibrated but - actually - I don't care and can't be bothered to do it...

Can the M3W be re-calibrated just like the Aero 8??

Strangely I did once compare the odometer to the satnav estimated distance for a long motorway run and they were within a couple of miles over 450 miles despite the +10% speed reading. I have no real idea what to conclude from this...

Haven't tested the M3W properly but on my Aero the odometer on a normal 58 miles run I do regularly shows about 63 or 64 miles so on this particular car the odometer is linked to the speedo (which overreads about 8 - 10% most of the time) and find it surprising that the M3W is different.

On my M3W the speedo doesn't seem too far out so perhaps it's just the built-in safety margin and the calibration of meter to wheel size is basically ok.

The speedo and mileometer both work off the wheel sensor which in my case is I think on the OSF wheel. Although I haven't had them fitted yet, I expect my new Blockleys to change the speedo reading slightly, on account of their having what looks like ever-so-slightly taller sidewalls, not by change in size spec, but by the more squared-off design. If these have a very slightly taller sidewall, the speedo will become MORE accurate and will 'eat into' some of the +5-10% over-reading tolerance.
