I just installed an Edlebrock Performer 4 barrel carb. I also purchased new throttle cable since my other was frayed and poorly arranged. I noticed that the pedal does not have enough travel, before hitting floor, to fully open the carb. I need an extra 1/2 of travel.
The only way I can see to do this is by cutting the top part of pedal and welding ant a slightly changed angle to pick of the needed 1/2" of travel. Any other thoughts? Thanks

Can you change the carb linkage so that the present cable travel will fully open the carb? There are a variety of speedshops available in the US that should be able to hook you up with the required Edelbrock linages, or maybe you could modify the one that you have.

The linkage is not the problem. The end of the cable attaches to the foot pedal. The cable only moves 2.25 inches when the pedal is depressed to the floor. It needs to move 2.75 inches.

Thanks for comment. I am planning a trip to my speed shop today. Try to change the length of the outer cable case.

T turns out that I have no problem. Mismeasured requirements and all has worked out for the good. The only modification I had to make was cutting the top of the pedal holding plate so the 5/16 nut holding the cable housing did not impair travel of pedal. Carb works amazingly well. Breath taking actually.
