Very usable power if used with care.
My Rad is metal & so far so good with the fan. I rushed out to check after Jay's post.

The all metal rads were replaced sometime around 2006. I have metal tanks on my Roadster.
The biggest problem with alloy rads is that they are difficult to repair, (I'm told), so if you get a leak, that's not good news. I would also try to flexibly mount to the chassis, to avoid stressing the mounting brackets.

Yesterday I noticed a small pool of coolant on the garage floor, on closer inspection it appears I have a leak from the top of the rad on a welded seam. Has anyone used Liquid Aluminium Radiator sealer? Is it worth trying this product before removing the Rad which is only two years old.

I'd bite the bullet, remove the radiator, and get it properly repaired.

Even that doesn't always work. My Gilbern had a tiny leak where the top tank was soldered to the core. I went to the trouble of having it professionally repaired, but within weeks it was leaking again, exactly the same.

Repaired rads have a habit of letting you down when you least want it eg. queuing traffic in the summer. I would go for new one, relatively speaking, they aren't that expensive.

Looks like the best course of action is to replace with a new radiator, what's the correct way to remove the rad, do I have to remove the cowl?

This is one job I haven't done (yet) but I'm told that it can be slid out from below. Obviously different models may vary.
