If you want to cause them pain it is surprisingly easy to use the Internet if you are willing to throw good money after bad.

You can place advertising on Facebook and choose key words that would result in you coming up alongside their imprint.

1. Register a domain Crap-car-sales.co.uk or some such
2. Place "an example of a bad engagement" on the home page
3. Invite others of this dealer to name and shame them
4. Say more people should contribute to others
5. Make up a banner advertising the site with this dealers name in the headline as the lead article.
6. Place the banner advertising on Facebook with the correct search keys to get it surfaced alongside target audience.

I would recommend their dealer name, location, porsche, car buying, autotrader, trading standards and other things that would lead to a good spot of brand association.

You can also do the same with Google advertising.
If you can then get the local paper in their location to cover it and add some search hits to it all the better.

Do this on a friday evening and pay one of the SEO engines (hundreds of people in China/Indonesia) to cause it to rise up the search ranks. They will not be monitoring social media until Monday morning and so you get a weekend run at them.

Then push the story to the press.
The Register is a naughty web site for IT that would love to cover the IT angle of retribution and would get you a lot more hits.
Some of the red tops like the Daily Mail would also love to cover the "owner gets own back using google" angle as well.

Play your cards right and you should have change of £5k

Not that I have done this mind you.

Do beware that if you take this route the result will most likely be a do or die card. If you do it then follow up with a call saying "have you seen this, its just the first stage, do you want to resolve this or not ?"

If you don't then the likely chance is that they will sink there heels in and fight you tooth and nail thereafter.

Fortune favours the bold. Some people need to be shamed.

Trading Standards then court.
They may settle out of court to avoid bad publicity.
After settlement the details of the case - factual re problem,their actions,court outcome - may then become public knowledge but keep it to facts and simple comments like
" I won't be going back to them" .
That could avoid counter actions by them.
Word of mouth is also good.
I had issues with a second hand car from a local main dealer who were appalling. We settled eventually but a couple of items not returned, small £ value but a " kick in the teeth".
No court, just refusal to accept faulty goods route and a deal struck.
Word of mouth now used if asked about them.

I bought an MG V8 Roadster from SMR MGs and had it trailered home by the garage. Showed it to my mechanic mate who said "That won't pass an MOT". The car had been MOT'd. Phoned SMR who came up and trailered it back at no expense and gave me a full refund. Wouldn't even take some money for diesel.

I suffered a very disappointing lack of service from my local BMW dealer regarding the failure of the dual mass flywheel on my Cooper D at about 40K miles (which I had a moan about on this forum). The local Ford dealership on the other hand have been really great in how they've dealt with two problems I've experienced with my Transit van.

As you can imagine, I don't hold back in pointing out to any of my customers which of the local dealerships look after you well when the subject of car buying surfaces in the pub. What's more, being of Irish ancestry I'm well capable of bearing a grudge for a LONG time (my dad still won't allow the Observer newspaper in the house because of something they wrote about the captain of his ship in the Suez fiasco in 1956).
