I don't know if this subject has been asked before but on my 2008 S4 Aero when looking at the dash at night with everything switched off, the boot release and hazard switch lights are permanently eliminated. Is this one of the quirks of the S4. I have had this annoying problem from when I purchased the car as an ex demonstrator, when I asked the dealer they did not know of any problems and just said it is a typical morgan quirk (I got the feeling they did not know). Does anyone know of a remedy or do I have to put up with it?

Having experienced similar lack of knowledge about what should light up, dim, or work and no one at Morgan having a clue I got the idea that either most Morgan's are only used in daylight so the issues aren't noticeable or they don't care, possibly both. I find the dash lights and switch operation annoying and unacceptable in a car that costs as much as we are charged but 'it's a Morgan' excuses are apparently acceptable.

With my 2014 Aero Plus 8 all the lights are off when the ignition is off, but when the door is opened and the footwel lights come on the main beam warning light, hazard flasher light and seatbeld warning lightd all come on, breifly. There is a clear "click" from a relay and then they go off. As it is a Plus 8 there is no boot..!!

So it soulds as if on your Aero a relay isn't working.

Yes. Also true of the Aeromax which has a permanently illuminated boot release light even with the ignition turned off. Charles Morgan asked me once if I was enjoying my car and I mentioned the dash light for the boot. He laughed and said his was the same...

Obviously there is a problem of the battery draining faster than it should. There is something strange in the electronics of the Aero. A friend had the battery going flat overnight because when the voltage dropped to a certain point with his old battery there was a constant drain of 1.5 amps (if I recall correctly). Fitting a new battery resolved the problem. In the mean time he had to use the immobiliser switch under the bonnet.

In this case it would seem that when the ignition is off the current from some source is finding its way to earth via the dash warning lamps. Perhaps it is due to a design fault that has a relay wired incorrectly, or an incorrect type of relay has been used. You may be able to find out which circuit it is by pulling fuses. If you find out what it is, and if nothing that should function with the ignition off is involved, you may be able to isolate it with a simple relay that switches when the ignition, or accessories, are on.

May thanks for the info. Nice to know that I am not the only one that suffers with this problem. For info all other switch illuminations come on with the door opening,and eventually go off after a long time out period, as you say might be able to insert a relay when I find my way behind the dashboard.
