I had a look on my 2014 Plus 8.
Yes, it has the holes.

There are some other differences between the 2009 Roadster and 2014 Plus 8 Hoods:

1. The flaps that go over the top of the side-screens are deeper, so better sealing the top of the door.
2. There is a block of foam on the hood top frame that completely closes the gap between the screen pillar and hood rail.
3. It has the new style seals on the screen pillar.
4. There is a block of foam on the front end of the side screen that closes the gap between the side-screen and bodywork.

These small changes do seem to have made a big difference, the car is waterproof when driven in rain.
But I've not parked it in heavy rain.

And me too.

I would suspect the point at which the main wiring loom enters the area behind the dash. On our 2012 model the box covering the ECU was not sealed and water draining from the heater/aircon box could run under the cover and thence through the partially sealed cable grommet above the foot well.

The fix was to fit a drain tube to the drain spigots and fit a neoprene gasket to the flange of the ECU cover.

That's interesting Peter, my 2012 +8 leaks in all those places. It's encouaging to know those small improvements work - a trip to Malvern for some foam beckons. You say silicone grease on the header rail works to keep rain out too? Any particular sort? Thanks, Alan

I used a version of this:
Kryotox

I actualy got mine from a place that services pools and spas. But any flurosilicone grease containing DuPont Kryotox will work. DO NOT use a straight silicone grease, it will destroy the rubber over time. Kryotox is a flurosilicone and is totally bon reactive when in contact with modern synthetic rubbers, it keeps the rubber soft and extends its life, as well as keeping out moisture.

VW/Audi sell it (at an insane price) to lubricate the rubber seals on their convertivles.

I also use it on the Merc, the frameless windows creak in the seals if not kept lubricated.
