When I visited the Pressed Steel factory in Oxford in the 60's- possibly the Mini line - much the same techniques were in use. I also recall a lot of soft lead based filler being used to fill the gaps between the panels.
One result was that after an accident not only would the filler fall out, but the panels that had been 'persuaded' to fit would resume their original shape compounding any accident damage!

Well!Spudgun you rise interesting issue.We all can or will have this problem.Adjustment does not exist.Bad design.What I suggest is drill the hole in the angle and fit the adjustment bolts 1 on each on the window rail.It will bring the window in a position but increase the gap between the window and weather seal.This will be the case when you need bigger seal.That's what I will do on my car.

Thanks for the input, Yuri. I've received some good tips from Cerealsurfer regarding a possible fix. Apparently the central strut was glued to the ash frame in the factory but after some time the struts came loose thus creating the misalignment.

I will document the repair, so any Aero 8 owner can consult these pages for a possible fix. Please take some pics too when you alter your door internals. The more info, the better!

I found on my Aero8 that the side window frame to windscreen frame alignment could be varied by adjusting the door hinges and shifting the door a bit to gain better alignment, then adjust the door lock striker plate and latch to suit. The door leading edge also sits better to the body now on mine....kinda got several small fixes done in one job!

To adjust the door in relation to the striker plate then the hinges do the job... if you attempt to use the hinge adjustment to resolve the window frame miss-alignment then eventually two things happen.

1) you get a draft along you elbow where the bottom of the door does not seal properly.

2) the leading edge of the door just in front of the mirror hits the lower "A" pillar paint and takes the paint off when you open and shut the door!

Mine doesn't on either point!

Well, I fixed mine. A couple of good janks was all it took.
