Jeff,

some thoughts and observations to answer you comments, in blue....

>>Agreed!

Can't understand previous comments that it is too hot to drive with the hood down in summer, I cruised around on a 42C day this week and the breeze keeps it fine, just need the right hat/suncream.

I would like to work out how to stop my heater drifting out hot air, despite the fact that it is turned off!?
>>This is caused by air from the engine. You need the latest foam seal to isolate the heater intake from the engine bay, so that only outside air gets in to the intake. It is important that the foam is compressed by the closed bonnet.
Or in the summer seal the air intake on top of the heater with a plastic pannel and duck tape....

Must get some AVOs for the rear, factory fit shocks are very ordinary. Will pick some up on my next trip to the old dart.
>> Agreed 100%

Don't forget to close all 4 heater vents in the cabin.

Jeff I have driven top down on very hot days when the aircon has failed (electrical problem), fine if it is a dry heat, but when you have a hot sun and the very high humidity that we get here in Northern Italy in July (you would think you were in Far North Queensland) I can assure you that top up and aircon on is a pleasant relief.

I too have sealed the airbox with extra foam. I'm not entirely happy with the result and will invent something better for next summer. The main problem is how to seal the hinge area.

You've been conned hide

It was an option for the Plus 4 from 2012. Probably very seldom requested in the UK.

The Plus 8 has Aircon: it will be interesting to see how well it works, but as Peter says, sealing the inlet area of the heater box to keep engine bay air out is crucial.

I'm beginning to think that a raised solid edge for the heater box to within 1cm of the bonnet and sealed with a "D" rubber seal to meet the bonnet might be the answer.

The problem is you can't see or measure the gap with the bonnet open or shut. So it can only be done by trial and error using "witness chalk". Very, very tedious.

Of course a really expensive improvement is a new bonnet with the rear 4 louvres reversed, to scoop air in.
