I remember that our S3 Aero had a heater switch which had an off position - by turning completely anti-clockwise past a small stop. Should the Supersport have the same? The one we have seems to go from low to high but never switches the fan off entirely.

The S2 clicks off. The Coupe does not seem to as per your car.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

The air-con needs the fan on to work. If the fan is not switched on the air-con light flashes. I expect this was changed as some users would expect the air-con to work by just pressing the button so if the fan is on all the time then this is a simple fix, albeit rather daft in some ways.

Old Peugeots used to have a fan that was on all the time...

That used to happen on Alfas, the reason being is allegedly the aircon is more efficient if left on all the time but it needs the fan running. On Early up to 2000 Alfas you could turn the system off after completing this complicated procedure.
To quote from the manual:-

Switching compressor control from automatic to manual.

1. ignition key to stop position
2. turn heat control to full right(max)
3. turn fan speed to 0
4. direction knob to full left (face?)
5. turn ignition switch to MAR (the position before engine starts)
6. turn fan speed Auto-0-Auto-0
7. turn ignition key to stop

It should now be set to manual control, to reset it to automatic you need to repeat the same sequence.

I don't know if there is a similar process for your car but maybe.

I'll bet 10p it doesn't work on the Mog, and it sounds like a slightly different thing anyway...
