Hello together,

here are a few pics about my first winter project. I was a little bit concerned about the squeek and rattle problems with my new Morgan. For that reason I disassemble most of the interieur, dash and parcel shelf and improved many areas with heavy layer and self adhesive foam. As an acoustic engineer first I did an analysis on our roller bench and then identified the hot spot areas with a thermografic camera.
Dash area

Dash cover lower

Next task was installing the spot lights. Many thanks to the very friendly stuff of Morgan Ledgerwood to provide the spot light brackets and helpfull hints about the wire routing.

Next task was only a small but very effictive improvement to stop the movement of the left hood side. I saw on many new plus 4 that the lower hood spacer is not correct adjusted. Fixed it very simple as shown below.

Last thing was the dash himself. I had the series painted dash and would like to change to the wood version.

Matthias Kauffelts shop is only 40 km from my office in Frankfurt and after several visits we found a possibility thats fits to my expectations. To those who a familar with the GDI dash knows that it#s not so easy to change the switch positions due to the switch Panels and the can bus problem. I did the electrical changes and Matthias the wooden job.

Here are now the results.

Added start engine switch and spot light switch on separate insert.

You can find my dash on Matthias website now or if you like to do by yourself drop me an PM and I will support.
I hope you like it.
Torsten

First drive today, it was beautiful and an amazing improvement

With David on the neoprene and you on the foam we'll have squeak and rub free Morgans all round. Dash looks great - nice choice.

You've done a lovely job Torsten! I was wondering last time I had the dash out of Nero, if I should put some sound damping material on the bulkhead.....I hadn't thought about the lower panel.

Glorious job Torsten!!

It is probably a good thing that I don't live so close to MK: It would result in me replacing the dash on Tarka with something less "plastic" although with CAB-BUS and airbags there are not many options for change.

I think you will agree that it needs improving...

The white printed "Airbag / SRS" in the centre of the dash really irritates me...

Hi Peter,

you are right it needs improvement. But I can't recommend to work on the Airbag w/o testing afterwards. This testing is very expensive. We have in our company an Airbag Shooting Center. First you need to know the exact cutting line of the Airbag door. Then you need a laser cutter and could do a leather wrapping on the Airbag. Then we need 4 Airbags all wrapped and laser cutted in the same way. Three test shoots and one left to build in when everything is ok. Please consider 5000 € for each shot and you have to buy 4 Airbags from MCC. What I would like to say when money is not a problem you can change the Airbag area but I would'nt. I will attend on the Thrill of the Hill Event this year and when you like we can met us there and discuss if there is a possibility to improve your dash w/o so much and expensive changes.

Love that dashboard. Must give you pleasure every time you look at it while driving.

I had not thought about sound absorbent materials to deaden random squeaks , but now you mention it , it does make sense.

Nice.
