Probably a daft question with an easy answer..... How do you remove the mirror and stem from the door bracket on a new Morgan, I thought it just pulled out but doesn't seem to. Loosens off slides up and down, but wont come out - Help...

I assume that you've loosened the setscrew. The end of the stem gets stuck under the plastic cap, so needs a bit of persuasion.

Hi,
Your footnote suggests Morgan don't sell cars direct anymore, when did this happen? Will keep dealers happy I suppose..
Thanks,
Will

I think that when I swapped my mirrors I took the plastic cap off to get the stem out. This needs doing carefully to avoid putting pressure on the mirror mount and door, but isn't too difficult.
When putting the new mirror stem back in ensure the cap refits so the cutaway is in the right place for the stem screw to go through.
Once I figured out what to do it took about 5 minutes per side.

There is a plastic "circlip" on the end of the mirror shaft that stops the full extraction of the mirror. This is in addition to the plastic conical "washer" you can see at the end of the stem - it is easier if you slide this up the shaft before trying to pull the standard mirror out. I removed the stem screws completely. More force required - but not so much that you damage the base or door. Once you have done the first one you will be happier.

Good luck.

Woxie.....shame on you, you should know the answer to that innocent

Take care not to damage the plastic "grommet".....they are hard to get hold of!

WD40 helps
I had the same problem and removed the screw and sprayed WD40 into the grommet area. Mirror came straight out

Good Luck thumbs
