no drain plug is ok but a few scars on raised section adjacent ,even more scars on sump proper.
the swedish 'sleeping policemen' seem to be more lethal than the english...

I'm sure you will refinish the sump cover before re-installing it. I say that because I once had oil leaking from a sump cover (not the Morgan) where it had suffered a stone chip and corroded barely noticeably, until the black stuff started to ooze out.

The range rover sump (ER477?) used from about 1992ish onwards
3.9 ltr, 4.6 ltr etc is designed NOT to use a gasket, a clean surface on both sump and block and a uniform bead of RTV silicone sealant is all that is required.

Thanks everyone for help .
I have assembled with the gasket + a little sealant.
I agree with Simon H that the sump can/should be assembled without gasket,but did decide that the original leak was caused because there was too much sealant used and the threads were full of gunge stopping them tightening as designed.
