My 2004 4/4 runabout is a British RHD with MPH speedometer.
I imported the car in France a couple of years ago.
This morning I noticed the daily odometer was showing a fix "0.0"
Also impossible to get the total mileage on the electronic dial.

I would like to check the speedo calibration but I don't have the correct figures to enter for Miles / inches .
Could someone tell me those 6 figures ? ( you get it displayed by pressing the reset button 3 seconds while switching on the engine)

Also in case that re-calibration does not work, I will appreciate your advise how to source a brand new (white/magnolia) Morgan 2004 MPH speedometer?

I seem to remember a 4 digit number for my +4. I will search a bit more and see if I can find it.

Actually if the numbers are displayed a long empty straight road and a sat nav are the best approach. You have to run at a consistent speed for quite a long time for the sat nav to be accurate but once read you can calculate the proper number from the ratio between the speedo reading and the sat nav. Then repeat the process until you are happy. That process gives mine reading 5% fast, I didn't change the speedo.

Before questioning you here I went through many sites and forums.
In fact I already had 8 years ago the same issue on my prior +4 and managed to find the right calibration number which then helped quite a lot of +4 owners.

The Caigauge site does not help since I don't know which kind of sender I have got on my 2004 4/4 runabout. And the multiplying factor (number of teeth /of magnets / of pulses) is quite significant. That is why most people get it wrong.

In fact a 4/4a 4/4 sport, , a +4 or a roadster even when equipped with same tyres of same circumference do not have the same calibration number.

The only calibration figures I know are the following
my former 2007 +4 was 005360 (km/h)
a +8 is 004500 when speedometer in km/h
a +8 is 007400 when speedometer in mph
A shame we don't have somewhere a database of all those calibration numbers per model, mph/kph, and year...

So it's important to know the exact figure for my model. If I remember well Nigel (nputtick) has got the very same car as mine, I will try to mail him directly.

If I cannot solve my issue with recalibration then I will probably have to check the sender (where is it ?) next step would be to change the speedometer . And it looks pretty difficult to source a 4/4 MPH speedo over here.

On my 2004-built 4/4 (Runabout) with white instrument dials, I'm sorry but I do not get any calibration number displayed when I press the reset button as described. I only get the current total mileage displayed, followed by 0.0 which is the trip meter being reset to zero. I have tried holding for 3 seconds (as CAI gauge website) and 10 seconds (as described in your pm).

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong or there is some other way? The button I am pressing is on the face of the speedo. A thread some time ago referred to a button under the dash but I cannot find one. Any ideas?

My speedo has always been very accurate compared to GPS!

Thank you so much for trying Nigel, I guess I have to test reseting the speedo while driving / switching on/off the battery also...

I will try and let you know the result if any.

Meanwhile all tricks and tweaks are welcome.

Someone here will know how to access the calibration for that type of speedometer. Lots of people have cars with the same speedometer, including Roadsters, from the same period. If they know how to get to the calibration setting, i will do it and let you know the number for the 4/4.

Nigel, this is what I used as a guide to adjust my 2010 4/4 once I changed the back axle. Ben Duncan pointed me towards it after explaining how to adjust it.
It was fiddly I recall! Not sure what figure I ended up with but I did it by trial and error in the end using the original setting value as a start point.
speedo adjustment
