I don't really think that diesel is an option for the Morgan. The Maserati Ghibli is more of a touring car. In fact it is a slightly cut down Quattroporte.
It is very nice though and I am seriously considering buying one, however the current model is Euro 5 homologation and I will wait for the Euro 6 version.
The new Aero 8 is, I believe, the best looking and most refined Aero built to date. I think it will be a huge success for Morgan. The only thing that worries me is that they are steadilly moving focus to the GT market and developement of the sports car end of the market is essentially frozen. It also has to be admitted that by the time you option up a Roadster with leather seats, mohair hood, and a few other bits and pieces you are not far off the entry price for an Aero 8 and the Plus 8 seems to be very close.
I must admit that I still can't see why the use of the Ford V6 is not possible. It would probably require a different dash and some special electronic system to control the windows but the rest of it would seem to exist already (engine, gearbox, wiring design etc.)

It is a difficult one Peter, as discussed many time before, the nanny EU is rolling down the the hill and is picking up non-compliant cars along the way, it is gradually heading towards the small car manufacturer, so Morgan may have no choice but move to a more modern design. I hope that a small Morgan sports car along the trad styling continues as well.
Also IMHO the 3.7 Cyclone engine obviuosly would work, manual or auto, I believe it would have to use the Ford supplied dash as is, as its a requirement for the ECU. But MMC I think have to use up 350 BMW V8s by 2017, as stated in Miscellany, so offering a Aero V6 doesn't make commercial sense I suspect. I know if an Aero V6 was available I would seriously think about having one.

Adrian, You, me and many others. Perhaps they actually don't want that much business? As to the EU rules, you are right. I've no idea where it will lead, possibly forcing MMC to join Caterham and the others using the SVTA process.

As to the EU rules, you are right. I've no idea where it will lead Public transport as the only option...

It seems that a smaller engined aero may be in demand ! I don't understand why, that is ! ....... Is it because it will be slightly cheaper to purchase ? Is it because the road taxation is cheaper ? Is it because it would be greener ? Is it because it would be more economical to run ? Or all of the above ! Personally I don't think MMC would use a ford engine ,for their top end motor , it's no doubt a very good unit ,but isn't generally associated with a high end vehicle ,which is the market MMC are hoping to tap into ! As Aerotaff stated most aeros don't get driven often (mine especially) so fuel economy may not be an issue . Please let me know your thoughts on the AERO 4 AERO 6 ?

For me in order of importance: 1. Lower cost of ownership; ie. tax and insurance, 2. I don't want, or need, a car that I may not have the skills to keep on the road, for me 250hp and reasonable torque for good acceleration in passing etc. is more than enough. A top speed of more than 200 kph is something that I will never use. 3. Lower purchase price, 4. Better fuel economy.

Anyone with long legs will like the new Aero8 it has a new invention for Morgan - legroom!
So what else can I tell you? Well, I spoke with Nick Baker and passed on my feedback on relocating the PAS reservoir to avoid the problem I had last summer, the centre wood section looks nice, the new switches are horrid, the new touchscreen is by Parrot and looks good, the window switches are now in front of the gear level (why????), the vents are horrid looking rectangles, the centre storage tray looks nice and will and some (more) cabin storage (despite iPhones fitting door pockets nicely), carbon seats are very nice - but the Aero 8 is no place for a harness. The boot floor was a fake and should be deeper and the hinges thinner.
As for price, it was indicated that nicely specced it will come in at 130-140k CHF.
(Meanwhile on the stand opposite I was wined and dined by Alpina - whose prices are looking very tempting - although the new limited edition B5 Edition50 (600ps - limited run of 50 cars) comes in at 150k chf!!
I need to find some buried treasure - or rob a bank - or two!

I would not be interested in a top end Morgan if it didn't have a big hairy V8 stuffed under the bonnet

Eight is Great I agree that 8 is great but I think the race for horse power is ridiculous and a bit childish (mine is bigger than yours syndrome) Morgan are ignoring a large number of potential buyers by not offering a smaller engined option.
