Brian, I think we have all dreamed of building something to our own specifications. I could not say how many times I have dreamed of how I would like to build a car or a bike. You have managed to live the dream

The question is do you get to drive it, or is there still some work to do?

Totally understand that and like Peter, I admire what has been produced.
My "Marmite" comment referred to my impressions of the styling, which I know some people love.

SP1 is a magnificent achievement, not only by the factory but also by Brian, for having the vision and the will to push it through. What it looks like is almost beside the point, it's what Brian wanted and that's enough.

Personally, I think it looks great, a real concept car made flesh.

Thanks Mark and Peter, the end result was almost incidental to the process of being involved in the build and the design process. I think that you both understand the motivation and it really was a dream come true for me. Many think it is an impractical car that is not relevant, but we have other cars that fulfill this need for more sensible transport and it was never conceived as that; sensible transport that is! During most of the time it was being built I was visiting the factory on a weekly basis and dealing with such a talented young team of craftsmen and interacting with Jon Wells and seeing him design was a real pleasure.

Whilst much of the car looks as if it shadows the LifeCar, in fact there were many significant differences as the car is more than 10" wider; for instance. Like the AeroMax and the Aero SS / GT the LifeCar roof falls away too rapidly to the rear and the air-stream cannot stay attached, creating lift. Using CAD, Jon redesigned the roof completely, checked the aerodynamics using their CFD programme, designed the egg box former again using CAD, the woodshop made it up as per spec, and Lee created the roof to fit the former out of twelve pieces of aluminium, using the English wheel, which were then welded together. A complete mix of science and craft that was a pleasure to watch evolve, there were many other such experiences during the build..

The Team were very happy with the outcome, and a couple of them looked me out before Salon Prive and said "thank you for pushing us, we did not know what we were capable of and we have appreciated the opportunity". The Board were also very supportive and I'm pleased that the company got a payback in huge publicity for the marque.

As we know, not everyone likes it, as I've said before - no issues. I haven't seen the new car yet that everyone likes without exception. There are still some minor changes that I'd like to make, but for now the task is to get it road-worthy and enjoy it as:is, otherwise will be on the warpath.

I'm at the works again tomorrow and we hope to develop a critical path to make it roadworthy, but I also have a few ideas for my car on order, though don't worry it is only gilding the lily and nothing too major...

when you have the V5 in your hand and can drive her out of the gate we need to celibrate and share in your success.

I'd love to tag along and toast Brian for his achievement in the SP1 and the team at MMC who made it possible.

Could I be around to collect the glasses? Would quite like to see/hear SP1 running !

To celebrate you need to find a nice clear long section of tarmace and for an M3W to mark it specially in honour of the car - by of course doing a really long 1!!
