I thought MMC has a clever software based virual wind tunnel...
Have to talk to the guys at Morgan about it.
But yes. i'll explore the wind tunnel idea as well. The two best would be the ones at Red Bull and Williams. Anyone have any good connections??? The designers have a CFD programme, but it is quite a cut-down version and not of the same accuracy or power of those used by the F1 Teams. Nevertheless, it should be able to show the airflow round the windscreen and the eddies and back flows. It's probably worth talking to Jon Wells about it Peter. P.S. To sort out the under-car airflow on the Aero's there were two bits of twisted metal that could be fitted at the front of the front wings and this helped prevent aerodynamic lift at the rear. Maybe something similar could be fitted to the Plus 8's to help sort out the airflow?

It's the relatively flat front and windscreen that does it - causing air to rise abruptly then swirl back down into the vacuum where the cockpit is.
The better aero of the Aero reduces this effect considerably - smoother front and increased rake on the screen - even more so on the SS racers.

There is another issue relating to the behind-screen vortex.
We had to go through the San Gotthard tunnel two years ago when the northbound side was closed and all traffic was in the one tunnel with a lane in either direction. After that experience I vowed never to do it again without a medical mask. The whole inside of the car was covered in a fine dust that was full of fine carbon, metal powder, and who knows what else. I can only imagine what finished up in our lungs.

Is it just me? I really can't see the point of all this discussion about wind tunnels. The car is a traditionally shaped Morgan for heavens sake with the aerodynamics of a brick. Just what benefit is there in sticking it in a wind tunnel or bothering the factory about it? If you can't live with the wind eddies in the cockpit you need to question whether you shouldn't be driving a modern open top instead.

Whilst I sort of agree John, there is some benefit in minor changes. For instance I have felt a marked improvement in stability on the front end just by the simple addition of a valance from Cain. I suspect in this case it pushes air flow down and towards the rear of the car rather then allowing it to cause pressure build under the bonnet and effectively lift the car. With respect to the windscreen and cockpit I tend to agree what it is what it is, unless you fancy removing the screen, raking it backward, modifying the brackets, sidescreens and roof then forget it.

It's like a cycle ride - whatever the weather decides to chuck at you you will be involved in it - Simples.
That is why we run a Morgan is it not..to be in contact with the real world not surrounded with a plethora of life saving aids and comfort.
