With the M3W I keep getting the question "No roof? What happens when it rains..?" to which the answer is simple. One gets wet.

For some reason, no-one ever asks the same question when I'm out on the motorbike..

So to sum up, four wheelers have an extra wheel but three wheelers never have to whinge about spray on the inside of the screen!!

The cynical may suggest, rather unkindly I believe, that there are other things to moan about in a M3W..

thinking idea
I am looking for a super power fan to fit inside the cockpit.
The theory is that if it blows enough air it will counteract the current airflow inwards.

What's more, if you make it powerful enough, it will give you extra acceleration when you switch it on!

Short of taking the car to the full size wind tunnels at Williams or Red Bull Racing I'm not going to get any real evidence and even if I did what can be done?

My considered view is that the air exiting from under the car is the cause of a low pressure area towards the back of the car which is made worse by a low pressure area behind the screen. So air rushes in from the sides, including spray from the rear wheels.

The answers are not going to be simple: changing the airflow under the car isn't done easly and can have unwanted side effects. As someone said, altering the screen rake isn't easy either. It would be very interesting to hear from the owner of a Speedster to know if the lack of screen changes the airflow in the cockpit.

I think answer is that there is no answer!
Reminds me of the story about a clever marketing person who analysed a gap in the market to death, only to discover that the reason there was a gap in the market was that there were no customers in that sector, so no market.

Peter, what about some sort of deflector fitted into the louvres in front of the windscreen? Might take the air more gently over the top. Have you tested with and without sidescreens?
I used to get wind in the eyes without sidescreens until I made a small triangle of perspex about the size of the palm of my hand and fitted it where the screen meets the dash. This takes the air just past my eyes and solved the problem. It's also virtually invisible on the car.

I've driven the Speedster a couple of times. The whole experience is so in your face that I can't recall clearly if there is any backdraft into the cockpit...but I think not. I do know my baseball cap ( sorry guys...it doesn't suit a flat cap!) would not stay on!
