Could be, I decided not to bother with the mods to the bevel box mountings so have whatever alignment preceded the 2014 chassis set up.

After investigating a little bit in HD forums I got the impression that a very tight belt is not an advantage at all. Should be rather as loose as possible according to several HD owners.
As I do not know what's the best I now have my belt run on "medium".

Can anyone comment on whether there's any truth in the rumour that the new Mk 3 M3W will be called the M3W Soapbox and has jettisoned the complete drivetrain in the interests of weight and reliability. The removal of engine, compensator, gearbox, shaft, bevel box, belt and sprocket solves almost all the outstanding issues and the new car comes in at 360 kg - comfortably under the limits.

If you think about it, the brilliant idea of having non-assisted steering and brakes could have been part of a strategic plan for the product.

A gravity fed car is almost unique and will please all the greens too.

And the new thrill on the hill will just be held from the top to the bottom rather than as now defying gravity (rather pointlessly).

A M3W ski-lift adaptor allows for some very spectacular runs in various mountain ranges and the heated seats will be powered by an energy recovery system that collects the kinetic energy from using the brakes and uses it to charge the battery so the lights and horn still work.

Just a rumour or a devilishly unique product?
Drivers will be encouraged to make 'engine noises' like little boys, and early research shows that many of us still do that anyway.

The average rear belt is “SEVERELY” Over-Tensioned. This extreme tension can cause a myriad of problems with belts, pulleys, bearings and seals as well as premature belt failure. It is best if you have some play in the belt. On swing arm bikes 3/4” with two people up is a pretty good starting spot. If the belt does not ‘Ratchet” (Slip a cog) it’s not too loose. Over tensioned and misalignment must be addressed.
Give your new Super Max a break and utilize a looser belt tension than is common on many bikes. The over tightening of belts can cause premature failures.
Your Super Max pulley will last you for years if properly cared for."

I don't know just when this will be installed as the third pulley is just starting the self-immolation process. I can probably get a few thousand miles out of it before it becomes obnoxious. It's still a hard winter here and I don't even expect to be able to take it on the road before the end of April! grrrr

Does anyone know - Is there a direct replacement for a harley or victory belt/sprocket set up?
What's the tooth belt spec & sprocket size

The belt spec is 1.5" wide, 133 tooth, 14mm pitch. S&S p/n 186214M38265A. Gates p/n 106-353. The belts are available from places other than Morgan (and cheaper). I expect the sprockets are as well although not as a direct replacement and maybe not any more durable. See the Belt Noise thread for photos.

We need a thread with a sticky where really useful posts like that can be put (also known as a service manual...)

I have installed on my pc and phone a free application called evernote. I copy and paste useful things like this into it in a section about the mog, so I can update it at home and refer to it while out and about via the phone

Belts are quieter, cleaner but less user friendly for me - never had a belt go on me whilst out on the H-D in many, many miles but they give no indication of wear in the same way as a chain does.

I think if I were to tune or get serious with the M3W (i.e. pay the bills out of warranty..) I'd be inclined towards an enclosed chain, and put up with any increased noise in exchange for ease of maintenance and the ability to adapt gearing a lot easier.

Automatic chain oilers are cheap and effective, and enclosure prevents the biggest chain killers of grit and water.

My mind would be to develop belt alternatives rather than chase ever decreasing suppliers of specialist belt sprockets with unique specification issues.

Or, make the sprocket from steel and build an aluminium belt guard.
